We have just bought a 54 plate punto which has one working key and one which opens doors but will not work in ignition . We contacted local dealer for cost of new key and was quoted £370 . Any ideas of how to get our second key to work the ignition?? without spending this silly money to do it.

Two options really. Either go to a key shop and see if they can clone the chip in the key that works, if so have one cut. The other option, which I have done many times but will probably have people going crazy at me, is to cut the chip out of the key that works and fix it to the key reader with blu tac - then you can have as many keys as you like!

Q to Maggers .....Are you saying a key shop like Timpsons can do this ?
If so are they reliable?
We have heard that there is some equipment from Bosch or more recently Continental which can copy keys but cant find any info on it.

Yes, Most places, such as Timpsons or Mr. Minute, can do it although you may end up with a Punto mk1 shape key -still works though.
