Back again with yet ANOTHER problem.

My alternator has packed in so need to get a new one.

Checking on Europarts, eBay new alternators are at lowest £135. I had a quote from the Garage who's usual supplier wanted £200, but the cheapest he could find was £165.

This on top of labour equates to £205 + VAT (so £250). Now he normally does cash in hand, but as the part is coming from an unknown supplier of his I have to pay VAT.

Running a 1.6 2002 5 door Stilo. Its an Aircon version so have to get an alternator to match.

Am I being mugged off? Hes just completed the work, but rather some piece of mind.

Cheers,

Update;

Cost £242 in total.

Europarts sent a dead alternator to start with, so was delayed a day. The garage had already fitted the dead alternator and then had to unfit and wait to fit the new one.

I was only charged an hour rate, as they managed to recoup some cost due to the time wasted on a broken alternator.

So far so good...apart from a big hole in my wallet...
