Technical RECALL: Service Solution for Suspension Springs

Mine were both changed under the recall, and have a blue and 2 yellow paint dots on them.

I'd hazard a guess and say Blue dot = 1.6 & Green dot = JTD

There doesn't seem to be any evidence yet that Fiat have changed the spring design at all - unless they're doing it Rolls Royce style - change the part, say nothing, and pretend you never got it wrong in the the 1st place

Thanks for that Steve I will pass on your good will gesture to him I'm sure he will appreciate it enormously I myself have always suspected it was a tensile issue having owned y own engineering company and worked with all types of metals and alloys much of my life ..I personally don't think Fiat have revised the springs as has been suggested on here and will never do so as they have their conceited attitude that the spring solution is all that needs to be done ..shame but there you are ..just another fault on another fiat that's is destined to go down in history along with the others that fiat never did put right what ever they are

with out the source posted as proof then this just a bloke told a bloke and that bloke put in on the net type thing, it worthless to any one else.

I can assure you this is correct, if you don’t believe it, have your own done it costs £195 and who knows some springs could be breaking for other reasons.

I haven’t purchased a new car yet, but I can assure you it won’t be a Fiat :bang:

I got £6000 for the Stilo Multiwagon Dynamic 2003, which had everything on it, except the kitchen sink.

I had Wheetabix for breakfast this morning, cut the front hedge and mowed the lawns

On that subject many companies make claims without proof but are usually caught out in the end ..and whats to say they have actually done what they claim to have done with out a print out ..:Offtopic: and totally out of context with this subject tho isnt it

not really phil.if theres an issue then with proof owners can do something.

i doubt many owners can/will pay £200 for a test as a preemptive to legal action

Well I think Craig that if you were going that far and taking your dealer to court a report on the issue would be the first thing you would do even before proceeding with any thought about court action as yo0u would need the facts..to go into court without any kind of evidence to back up the allegation would be paramount to suicide dont you think my friend

Maybe Bombay has decided NOT to name and shame the dealer concerned I don't know ..we never talked about the subject as far as I can recollect he just kept me informed about any issue that arose at the time just like the time he had the springs analysed by the I.S.T and then there was the time that he had a phone call from Italy from a company asking him question about the general build quality of his car [I think on that the car got 1 out of 10 on every answer] he asked that company to relay the answers to fiat and the person told him that the call was recorded and it would be done ..he also told that person that he was taking his dealer to court and to also tell fiat that one ..this to me looks very likely whats happened for the director of that dealership to contact Trevor asking him for a meeting JUST as they were due to go into court and do battle ..with the subsequent result for Bombay and the dealership in question buy the car back off him ..the dealership did offer him a part ex on other makes that were also owned by them but he declined after he test drove and inspected both vehicles ..so there you have it he has kept me in the loop of things along with one other member I believe as both of us have a very strong feeling on the whole subject on this thread regarding the spring and the bodge that fiat call a solution :bang: on my part I cant tell you any thing more sorry

Forwarded copy repair and car hire invoices to Fiat @ Slough last Friday afternoon, requsting reimbursement of spring replacement and car hire costs, but no response as yet! Am gonna chase it up this afternoon...
