Hi guys I'm new to the forum I'm from South Africa.

I have a 169 1.2 4x4 panda I'm busy rebuilding, I bought it from somebody who was selling it as a parts car I have since rebuild most of the car.

I have been struggling to get the right hand side wheel hub assembly together.

The shock I have checked is the correct and an oem Fiat part, however when I get everything lined up, the steering knuckle the wishbone and the drive shaft, I can't get the top of the bearing carrier to go onto/into the front shock mounting. They missalign and I can't push the hub lower down to get the carrier to line up with the shock mounts. Has anybody encountered this when rebuilding this part of the car??? Any advice?

The shock just seems to be too low for me to align it to the bearing carrier, if I connect the carrier to the shock then the wishbone doesn't align and the drive shaft does not sit where it's supposed to.

Is there an order to do this that I'm just missing, very perplexed here.

Hi

have you used spring compressors to shorten the shock assembly while its not under strain in the car.

would this help, assuming i understand your descriptions.

Assuming nothing is bent..or the wrong component..

Then this is what I do:

Check the driveshaft is properly engaged..

With the suspension strut pointing out wards..and the hub pointing outwards

Use a screwdriver : small rod
(Allen keys are good..)

Push the hub across into the strut

Introduce the screwdriver.. and things SHOULD be able to pivot around

If you cannot achieve this..

Carefully compare with the LHS

if you have one side jacked up it might be easier to disconnect the anti roll bar

Normally the rest of the suspension is still connected as I am normally only changing the strut and it goes together okay installing the top First the using a second jack to lift it I to position
