RC Car?

RC Car?

ahh, used to race nitro 10th locally (200mm, but after a year got a wide tenth serpent :yum:).

was awesome, but costed a bomb, and some of the people were less than savoury (read 'pikies').

then something happened, even though the club was proper (tarmac and lines provided by council etc), and everybody was insured, and club affliated with national group, something happened, and the whole lot got stuffed, could still race, but not officially, and locals would then call police on us and move us on.
which in turn put the 2local model shops out of business (4-5people out of jobs cos of it).

anyway, sold the serpent and all the good gear, and bucket loads of spares for pennies
but kept my first car, as its pretty much worthless, although I did fit the original engine from the serpent (fitted a .15 novamega 9/11port to the serpent for racing) to the older car, and its still good!

I didnt mean to come over liek that either

ah your dad might be able to give more info ont his then :)
But still its a con but they do last longer :) apparently somthign to go with ac motors

also lets get back to the topic :)
also got any toher cool cars?

They are indeed brushless. Well, brushless motors that is :D

To put it simply, instead of the windings on the arm their on the can. The magnets go from being on the can to the arm. So when the windings magnetise on the can they attract the magnet on the arm/rotor. As there doesn't have to be a flow of electricity from a stationary part (the can) to the spinning part (the comm) via brushes, you don't need them.

Enough of the science lesson, this is one in action :D

nitro cars are well cool. even if you spend half your time fettling them.

when my mate had his going, we spent half the time repairing suspension and driveshafts..... after he repeatedly sent the car into walls at high speed

cheap ones are, but performance models aren't.

LOSI, SERPENT, and some of the higher quality HPI's are what you want to go for (y)
It may have changed now, but when I was more interested in RC'ing - Team Losi were actually manufactured in Taiwan ;) (along with Traxxas)

hate to say there is no such thing as a brushless motor my tutor says he gave a explanation i just forgot it. find
your tutor is a 100% mud eating watch licking retard. if he tried to tell me there is no such thing as a brushless motor i swear i would have shot the stupid mofo down in flames and made him my bitch in front of the whole class. i cant believe they let people that retarded teach. what does he teach, cookery?

ask him to explain where brushes are used in electronically controlled commutation. the expression on his face will tell you a lot more than his crap excuses. a brushless motor is completely different, the magnets spin, the electromagnets and armature don't even move.

EDIT: aww beaten to it, i got so excited when i saw the "my tutor" post i didnt see col's post.

Yes, I know the feeling. I used to love geography, but then we got this know it all woman who really didn't know shiz, had a huge argument about weather patterns and basically boiled down to her lack of knowledge about the subject she teachs! or tried to
all it took was her to in the first instance says she doesn't know and we should look it up ourselves, but instead, she thought she could play it off

anyways, yes, brushless does exist, and whilst they are relatively power hungery, they have been a complete revaltion
