Technical Rattling noise - Marea 2.4TD

Hi there

I have a 1998 Fiat Marea 2.4TD.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows what causes there can be for a rattling noise coming from engine when accelerating hard from stationery position.

In addition, the engine sometimes appears to be slipping when going up hills but only when accelerating.

Any ideas? All comments welcome.

How does the clutch feel in general? You may have a loose spring.

The clutch feels fine I think but the gears are stiff. I am getting that checked by my mechanic next week so maybe I'll ask him to check the clutch as well.

If you have other ideas, I would be grateful to hear them. Would a loose spring cause slippage when accelerating hard?
