Although I have the information provided by other Ducato owners concerning changing the fuel filter element, any reference to the removal procedure for the rapid connectors on the fuel lines (3) at the fuel filter remains unclear. Could someone please explain in detail how to disconnect the fuel lines without damage to the fittings or the filter?

Hi Dennis,

I changed mine recently and can't remember having any problem, so I can only assume they are the type where you push the pipe forward then pull the outer back and it will all come away. You then remove the 2 nuts holding the filter housing and change the filter in the vice.

Hi Denis
The first time I changed my filter I loosened the two bolts retaining the bracket on the firewall. But since then I haven't even bothered to do that. Just remove the necassary components as in my post https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/142975-how-change-fuel-filter-2-8jtd.html - then there is enough room to remove the cartridge just make sure there is a rag under the filter to catch any spillage when removing the old filter & don't fill the new filter to the top with new diesel - leave about 6-8 mm from the top so as to avoid spillage when fitting the new one.
Cheers
