Hello good people. Wishing you all well.

I have some issues with my van a 2001 2.8jtd, VIN WV2ZZZ7HZ8H028966 and thought I share with you. Maybe there are solutions that you can share. Please help.

Issue #1:
Why is my Rpm meter dials not moving when engine is idle but will start to move as I accelerate on that gas or when the vehicle is moving but it will go back to 0 when I change gears. I have replaced the Crankcase rpm sensor but the problem still exist. In the end the mechanic suspect the instrument console could be the suspect.

Issue#2:
I have been struggling to engage 3rd and 4th gear. What could be the problem? Could it be the shifter mechanism or is it the gearbox problem?

Issue#3: why my van has no power or acceleration in 1st gear? I have replaced all the fluid. Engine oil, gearbox oil, oil and fuel filters.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Thank you.

1. The common rail engines were "dropped" into the existing Ducato x230 model, which is usually indicated by the first three numbers of the VIN. ( The format of your VIN would require more research.) The 2.8jtd Sofim 8140.43s replaced the mechanical injection 2.8idTD Sofim 8140.43 engine. As I understand the mechanically driven rpm and speedometer were retained. Subject to confirmation the rpm drive is mechanical, and taken from the primary shaft, so will not indicate until clutch is engaged.

You mention having replaced the crank sensor. This is located at bottom rear of engine, and access is not brilliant. See photo

2. I have a bookmarked link relating to lubricating the linkage on the post 2002 MLGU box, but I am dubious that it will relate to your vehicle.
The selector shaft moves into the box, as you move left to right across the gate. Best to observe what happens as gear is engaged by assistant. You may need to be underneath or remove air filter and hoses to get a good view. Try this before considering dropping box.

3. The lack of power could be due to a faulty wastegate link. Split or leaking air hoses are also a possibility.

x244 gear link lubrication (Possibly not much use.)
