Hi all

My 1.2 8v Panda is has a very intermittent problem. If I let go of the accelerator when driving it will try and "kangaroo" rather than reduce revs smoothly, sometimes if I do this approaching a junction and put the clutch pedal down it will sometimes stall but restart immediately,

It will also kangaroo if going over big bumps/dips in the road, it feels like I've backed off the accelerator but I have not done so. I've read that it could be the earth strap but there does seem to be any electrical faults when it is doing the "kangaroo" driving.

Has anyone had this before?

Thanks

Many causes, you need to diagnose it

If you GENTLY wiggle the wiring harness going to the ECU does the idle change

If you wiggle the earth strap that goes to the gearbox, does the idle change

Cable throttle or flyby wire

Does it ever stutter on hard acceleration
Does the revs ever rise unexpectedly
When it's failing try and look at the rev counter does it drop to zero

Do you have a scan tool, and or multimeter

Thanks for the reply, I will check those.

Sometimes stutters until hard acceleration, does rev high sometimes.

Revs don't drop unless the clutch is in then it dies.

I'll buy a scan tool!

Often caused by a faulty throttle pedal, and can cause kangarooing, but on flyby wire throttle body cars
Great thanks, this does feel like what it could be, it feels like the accelerator is putting in some random movements!

I didn't realise these cars could be drive by wire so I'll check that.

Thanks
