Hi! Just bought our B yesterday ,very pretty 2000 in red. Driving it back and noticed the radio that had been working wasn't working and also the little standard clock is now not working.Presume it is the fuse but where do I find the culprit!!?

Would also just like to say hello to everybody. Freddy is really the other half's car but I just love it!

Thanks

Nick

Welcome!!!

Yes check fuses. I had a same problem... they are under steering wheel, covered by some plastic cover. 3-4 bolts. When removing, cover may stuck because rubber of door is over it. just pull out this rubber.

i think that same fuse is for inner light and for ciggy lighter... i have somewhere pictures "how to do"... i will post them when i find them.

And yes... show us some pictures. :D

Hello Freddy and a very warm welcome (y)

Yep it sounds like a fuse and the advice given correct.

LRB will be a happy man as you have brought another red Barchetta onto the site (he's a bit insecure with colour you see :))

Anyway as said welcome and I hope you find this site to be an enjoyable addition to your (or other half's) Barchetta ownership. The members here are a good bunch and always willing to give knowledgable advice when required.

Personally I would kick the Mrs out and keep it for yourself :D

Have got cover off :) Any idea which one is the correct fuse or how many amps it is? also had a loose flesh covered slim wire just hanging with a connector on the end dont know what this is., any suggestions?

Thanks in anticipation

hm... i don't remember what is right fuse for that... pull them all, and you will see whi(t)ch is broken. :D on every fuse is number of amps...

hanging wire? hm... picture?

p.s... if i remember right, on covers back is "fuse map"...

Hello and welcome!

Just another point. When i got my car the clock didn't work after I got it home. It turned out that under the carpet was wet and when I had it all dried out the clock miraculously started working again so its worth checking that as well.

I hope it is just the fuse!

Definately fuse and it also runs the cigarette lighter.

I eventually found a 5p piece jammed in my cigarette lighter socket, which kept blowing the fuse!!:bang:

Welcome to the forum(y)

here are my values. try this fuse marked on image (as BIKER-BITZ says...)

:) You guys are goood !!

I had the fuse cover off earlier and didn't even see map:eek: !!

So yes once I referred to yours F4usT absolutely spot on BUT it looks on your graphic that it is a 30amp fuse mine was a burnt out 20 I replaced with a 20amp but when I plugged in the cigar lighter it blew ( checked it for 5p B-BITZ :) nought there!). Wonder if it is as simple as wrong fuse?

By the way Alan.D the Missus reckons she will be having words with you later:) She says she will have to get a few facts straight and don't go giving me ideas!! Good Luck:)

Thanks a lot guys for all your help

yeah, well... it is possible that I was short of 20A fuses so I stick 30A. :p

but when I plugged in the cigar lighter it blew

exactly, that was what I did... i stick cigy lighter and fuse blew... so i didn't do that again and all was fine later. and i seal this "ring of fire" hole forever. :D

Hi and welcome to the forum, great to see that you chose the best colour (ignore Al, he's smarting 'cos he aint got a b at the moment!! :p) (y)

As you can appreciate Red is by far the best colour for a 2 seater Italian car, I will show you mine if you show me yours!!

If the wiring diagram specifies a 30 and you have a 20 in the socket it will lack the required resistance and therefore fail. There may be a reason why the last owner did that so check the wiring behind the lighter for any signs of melting or shorting. Also, the back of the clock is exposed so worth checking there as well, chances are that its just a case of a wrong fuse!

Anyhow, welcome to the forum and steal the keys from the missus as often as you can - the b enjoys a good hard drive from time to time and unless your missus is Penny Mallory, Louise Aitken-Walker or Vicky Butler Henderson you will NEED to take it for a spin from time to time!! ;)
