R.I.P. Maggie

Apparently we live in a DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY, governed by MP's elected to SERVE THE INTEREST OF THEIR CONSTIGUENTS.
Let true DEMOCRACY show then.....

If you truly believe that then I now know why you are so happy Maggie is dead. Since MP's now come straight from university (not living life first) we are now subjected to the utopian view of life that people who haven't lived have.

God Help us, because the politicians won't.

£10m on a dead person when there are alive people who can't get funding for things like their cancer op or meds seems a bigger waste than giving that girl bigger boobs

What cancer ops are these that people can't get funding for? I believe there are strict rules when it comes to a diagnosis of cancer or suspected cancer and time scales for treatment.

And the medication funding you're talking about is a highly complex issue that a rant in the daily mail is not really going to explain....

I guess what I'm saying is you've not got the slightest clue what you're talking about (y)

I'm guessing it's the Sun and Daily Mail brigade that have the biggest problem with her and It's the same people who would cause a 'threat' to the funeral procession.

I obviously don't have a first hand view of the events through the seventies only being 26 years old, but from what I've read from various sources she made the best of very 'hostile' times and did a lot of good as well as a lot of bad. I get the feeling like with most things in life she's got the blame for a lot of things just because she was PM. A very similar series of events is happening with David Cameron.

:yeahthat: It would take an advanced medical degree to even understand the criteria they need to check through when treating cancer. This is because the treatments are very expensive and there needs to be a certain chance of recovery or it's £££'s wasted.

My father in law is currently in intensive care with a rather advanced carcinoma in and around his spine which caused him and 2-3 of his spinal vertebrae to collapse. I wouldn't expect the NHS to spend £100,000's on cancer treatment when he's paralyzed from the chest down and on a ventilator. Even if he does survive will never have a 'quality' of life ever again.

A standard hospital bed per day is about £400-500 where as intensive care is around £1,500 per day each scan and xray add hundreds even thousands to the bill.

each year the NHS spends over £100billion on the health care of the nation while journalists like to twist the details of each and every story, the NHS is bound by patient confidentiality and thus unable to defend the decisions made, more often then not 'funding' isn't the issue the possibility of recovery or efficacy of the treatment has to be considered sometimes where there is no chance of recovery or cure they will still perform life prolonging surgery or treatments because it is worth the investment for that person and family. it makes me angry when people quote the rubbish they read in the rubbish press without any appreciation for what the NHS has to deal with day in day out.

Hope your Father Inlaw gets better soon Chris must be a pretty difficult time !

£10,000,000 out of the pocket of each person in the UK is a few pence, again it would be half as much if people didn't pose a risk to the event through disrespectful ignorance. oh and the family will also be paying towards the event the Thatchers are quite wealthy

Estimated £5m for Policing alone. Still, she managed to sort out the EU Rebate, which is currently worth £5bn a year ... I believe £75bn or so has been rebated since 1984! Makes £10m look small change.

How stupid can people be?

£75bn in rebate's since 1984, oh joy and how many £trillions to stay in the EU?????????
£5 million for policing to keep away the idiot protestors.......
Doesn't that tell you something...
Doesn't that tell you how hated and despised this thing/woman was...
Doesn't that tell you idiots just what misery she caused the majority of the population, the poor, the ill, the disabled, the destitute...
The most vulnerable in society...
The easy/soft targets

You may not have been born when she was pm or may choose not to remember or may choose to remember the good bits and forget the bad.

But remember this.
We are told we live in a FREE Democracy and that right and good will prevail.
The overwhelming opinion of the country is that Margret Thatcher SHOULD NOT have a state funded funeral, whether good ,bad or indifferent.
What ever happened to the words of our current illustrious leader and his lackey......
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
