Q. (can anyone beat Tom to the answer - if there is one!?)

Typically random question for you all on a lazy sunday,
Can anyone shed some light on why the HGT is the only model in the Bravo range to have the rear wheels spaced closer together than the front? The wheels on all other models are wider apart on the back, except for the HGT which for some reason, the rear wheels are spaced 41mm closer together!

There is some relevancy to the question. I'm trying to gauge what potential there is for spacers on the rear (I know, I know, they wear your bearings out - but bearings arn't exactly costly and I'm only guna put them on the rear where the loading is nominal)so this got me curious. Did just wonder if they made the spacing narrower on purpose for reasons of handling (although wider spacing i thought = better handling on the rear!??)

5 cylinder engine = longer drive shafts
eg wider at the front

Trev, WRONG

Why can't people cope with the fact the 5cly engine fits in exactly the SAME engine bay as ALL the other bravos?! The bonnet on an HGT is the SAME as the others!

Wider wheel track gives better traction and stability. HGT has some 40% more power than the other bravos. Nuff said.

Its got BUGGER ALL to do with the wider engine.

Even old Jags, in fact, and quite a lot of makes had wider front track than rear!

the above car's wheel length was longer on the n/s than the o/s. or was it the other way around?

That was down to the torsion bar rear suspension. The bars ran from side to side in parallel resulting in the suspension arm on one side being further back.
