Punto starting problem

My punto has an intermittent problem with starting only starts when fuel is applied to the air intake then runs fine for a few days till it wont start again help please

When did you last change the fuel filter?

Filter and pump are ok fuel os getting to the inj pump but not in the engine when you try to start it , put a small amount of fuel in air intake and it starts straight away and runs great for a week or so then it happens again

Sorry fuel is getting up to fuel spray bar but not going in to the cylinders when you turn the car over like I said when I put fuel in the air intake then it starts and continues to run

I wonder if you have an issue with the air temp sensor or the engine temp sensor.

Which Punto do you have?

Hi I have a active sport 1.2 mrk 2 I was wondering if it could be the cam sensor I think that controls the fuel going to the engine nt sure there are no codes logged or lights on dash

Cam sensor fault would be logged methinks.

You might try looking at live data grabbed from a scanner, but I still think the issue is that the ECU thinks the car is warmer than it is (from either the air temp sensor or engine temp sensor) and so doesn't give it enough fuel when cold. (Similar situation to trying to start an older car with carbs without the choke on).
