I could be miles out

My understanding is it’s a simpler system than latter cars and all you just need to buy the ECU with a key and the code box

I stand to be shot down in flames it’s been decades since I owned a mk1

It may be better to have your original repaired by a specialist assuming you have all the keys etc. as a s/h one will still need the specialist so you may be doubling up on your bill, unless you buy a complete kit from a working Punto same model age etc. to include keys, locks, immobiliser ecu and engine ecu as a full kit, in which case it should be a case of swap everything and just turn the key. If it is a scrapyard with the car sitting there they should be able to give you all necessary bits to get it going , just fit and start. This only works on older cars with more simple ECU systems.

I only have a blue key for the 16v ecu chaps , I’ve had it wired before damaging the aerial it came with and code going out I’d rather get another off eBay and have that decoded though mines been wired up incorrect prior to me I’ve paid for immob off aswell but I’m uncertain he even did anything tbh I’d rather start again

It would likely pair with key if I had another undamaged aerial I did try the cinq one but no joy

By Aerial i mean the wire that attached to the barrel

I’m having absolutely no luck atall finding any sets surely someone decodes these so no chip or code box is needed

Yes the ecu code box and keys are matching sets cannot for love nor money find a matching set though 😩😩

There’s one on eBay at the moment for £80 (IAW 18FD.5Z)

Use “set” within you search

Seller has several ECUs for puntos some mark1 some mk2

There are all best offers and the lowest is £40 so guess they would be happy to except at this price

Anyhow

With a virgin ECU you can not add a fresh key without a red key. I believe you put the red key in first this becomes a master that then lets you program other keys

You can completely remove the immobiliser from the software so it will run without the code box even installed

The file is floating around the internet such as here

But you will need someone to program the file

Please don’t take what I say as gospel. Like I said earlier it got to be over 20 years since I worked on a Punto

The aerial / antenae bit from around the key was often supplied in the "kit" from scrapyards, but I understand from other people that all it does is transmits/passes the signal to the immobiliser ECU which then provides the instruction to the ECU.
Some years ago I lost the chip for my key on an Iveco Daily, long story short a diagnostic specialist in Bradford on sending the ECU to him deactivated the immobiliser side of the ECU on a Bosch MS6.9 I think it was , he then instructed me that on refitting I had to leave all the immobiliser part disconnected before reconnecting the battery, I did this the van started and ran perfectly with no issues, total cost £137 inc. postage I seem to recall. At the time the dealers had quoted me over a £1000 if I towed the dead 3.5 tonne vehicle to them 30 miles away!
Later I tried to get hold of him and the company told me he had left! Other local "specialists" told me it couldn't be done, even though that guy did it!
I am guessing that a brand new or "virgin" ecu would work the same, but I have no proof of that, so you would need to talk to an expert.;)
