Technical Punto mk2 keeps cutting out

My car on first trip out since mot last week keeps cutting out when I come to junctions or islands, put it in first gear bring clutch up then get to go & it stalls,
Fan works but pipe is boiling hot, local mechanic filled it up with pink fluid then emptied it then filled it up but it cut out again on way home 3 mins down road & engine light came on. Is my car buggered it's my first car & I'm no good with cars.

If the engine light has come on.. then there should be a fault code stored.

Best starting place for diagnosis.

When you say the pink coolant has been flushed and replaced.. why was this?

Overheating?

He found fault but his diagnostic thing wasn't telling him why. It was coolant to radiator he bled it but pipe from engine to radiator was very hot, it blows hot air into car ect, I'm hoping it's not a head gasket issue as it's gonna cost loads to fix, but it's been mentioned ?

It was low so he filled it up to see if that was why it was so hot.

Does it happen cold or only after the car has warmed up?
How often is the fan coming on?

When I've been on road for 10 odd minutes it cut out at traffic lights, Fan comes on straight away & pipe is very hot.

Because I'm a new driver I thought it was me but I'm letting it go to bite before taking brake off then it cut out, it stalled with battery light & engine light coming on the dashpanel.

On a stall the battery and eml will both come on
This is totally normal
Battery charge has stopped cause engines not spinning
Eml comes on as all sensors have stopped responding (no codes will be stored tho it knows its a stall)

If cars overheating - stalling is more likely as the fuel mixtures will be way off
Top rad hose should be hotter than bottom rad hose

Fan coming on pretty soon after startup is a little worrying
Id have to be towing for that to happen.... and id be stationary not moving


Where are you based as a member may be able to help see whats going on
