General Punto Mk1 Sporting 16v/85 mpg?

Would appreciate owners letting me know what mpg they get.Figures suggest 40mpg is that about right...not that impressive then again Im not that happy with my Cinquecentos 42-44 ish mpg either...Thanks.

Dunno what it works out at but the mrs gets about 70miles for a tenner in hers (s plate)

I used to get a fraction more than that, around 42mpg or about 9.5 miles/litre.

It would use less if I kept it under 70…

the 1242 16v in a mk1 will pull about 48mpg + (50 51 if you are golden) on a road at abou 55-60mph (speedo indicated 60) and just potter along (i.e use only the first 1/4" of throttle travel) don't accelerate hard up hills, just let if drift up and drift down.
