Hi guys,

sorry to bother you but i just couldnt find this little piece of information no where.

I have the MK1 s60 1250cc 99', on the gauges panel theres no water temp gauge only an orange indicator light for overheating.

instead of the original (dead) sensor im willing to install one of those universal water temp gauges with a new sensor but i have one dilema before buying the gauge - im not sure about the correct diameter/threads of the sensor, im talking about the one near the oil dipstick (currently - original one legged sensor installed).
knowing if its inch/mm threads would also be very helpfull.
from what ive found on the net it might be M12*1.5 or 1/8 NPT but i just cant be sure and dont have the means to measure the sensor by myself...

ill be most thankfull for any certain answer

The punto is a 1242 - not a 1250 :) handy to know :)

Also the mk1 punto is like the mk2 punto

Some have a temp guage some dont, i believe the mk1 can have a dash change that has a temp guage, the thing is you will need a Guage Sensor as the current sensor wont work the guage correctly i believe

:) a funny fact ive discovered recently regarding motors cc's - here in israel they round the cc's up so 1242 is considered as a 1.3 model while in europe they round lower so its 1.2...

anyway, car parts are quite expensive here in israel and im not sure it worth the time to change the dash while i can just install a universal one that comes with a new matching sensor and cost less then 50$ in Ebay.. i just need to be certain about the thread size of the original sensor so i can order the right one and not struggle with all kinds of fittings..

thanks :)

my point is that the current sensor only applies to the orange indicator light while the radiator fan has another reading from a different sensor.. also that sensor is faulty so its only a plug at the moment...

first ive thought about those inline kits but ive realized it wouldnt give me a true engine-head temperature reading since the only section it could be installed is after the thermostat :\

The mk1 im sure is the same engine as the mk2 1.2
The temperature sensor is at the back on the head near the inlet manifold

The Current sensor wont work with a dial if you just have a light, as the light uses an on or off activation

as people have had problems in the past where the light used to Dim and get brighter as the engine warmed up - that was because the wrong sensor was fitted i think
As there are 2 types for the mk1?
