Set up thermite and some kind of fuse for when the door opens (unless you disconnect it to get in, obviously) . . . burns at 2000c so would leave no evidence of said intruder :pimp:

Wow . . . there is something wrong with me :D haha

Well, springs now here, also have paint for the calipers and control arms, still need to do wishbone bushes too....and replace exhaust, basicly, major fitting day needed :D

mot is this Friday....

this evening has been spent with Daz doing the wishbone.......what a bugger of a job!

the wishbone itself was pretty ok, a few really tight bolts, but nothing unexpected. it actually came apart fairly well tbh, spring job, very straightforward too, the problem? in removing the wishbone, the driveshaft popped out its cup, doesnt sound a big deal, it popped out so just pop it back in? ermmmm no.

theres little rectangular bearings on the end of the shaft spider that have to be in exactly the right place in order to go in the cup, again, doesnt sound too bad but they really have to be exactly right to go in, and under their own weight they spin so it's nigh on impossible to get it in.....then you have the small matter of the shaft needing to be straight to stop them spinning as you try to get them in the cup..... after 2 hours of different methods and various bits of suspension getting removed, finally the shaft popped back in, phew

still need to do the other side, but thankfully it's just the spring needing to come out, so the wishbone wont move enough to pull the shaft out.....just to be sure though, the damn things getting supported 100%

Hate they jobs that start growing arms and legs...anyway it's done now. Once bitten twice shy! Good luck with MOT.

Good luck with the MOT indeed and know exactly how you feel with a seemingly simple job turning into a bit of palava

And agree with Ming about warming up the car - VTEC should most certainly be utilised, helps emissions wonderfully :D

it's going to fail tomorrow, i know this 100%.

i ran out of time to get it finished tonight :( it'll be going in and hopefully its just what i know i've not done yet that it fails on, if so no problem :D

as for emissions, shouldn't be too bad, it's on a j plate so pre august 1992, meaning i don't need to meet the same emissions levels as slightly modern cars, i should be able to pass it without a cat on actually :D

Ah well, guess at least you're expecting it if they do fail it. Saying that, I have thought on occasion the Stilo would fail on something and they passed it :)

it never had a hole the size of a 50 pence piece in it's exhaust mid section, 10mm of play in a bush and a front spring in 2 pieces though i bet ;)

Nothing some carefully placed and concealed Duck tape can't sort

You're forgetting the used Washing up liquid bottle. Quite why Blue Peter never showed you how to wangle an MOT pass I'll never know!

Here's hoping there's not a lot more req'd for that all important pass! Fingers crossed anyway!

well, that's it in :)

i think fail sheet will be

1) exhaust leaking at mid section
2) Front brake imbalance
3) excessive play in o/s/f wishbone bush
4) front spring incomplete/broken

advisorys

1) various suspension bushes deteriorated but not causing excess play
2) corrosion to boot floor
3) surface corrosion on sill
4) both front tyres inside edge worn

if it's that, i'll be happy because thats roughly what i knows wrong :D
