Started off with my mate chris (crispyrice) (y) giving me the car, then came things like body work with the bumpers bonnet and boot, eventually have the doors done too, started on the front bumper quite a while ago by cutting the plastic grill out and removing and smoothing the bumpstrips, but as im not able to drive the cars been sitting and the front bumper came off again a week ago and the fiberglass cracked so thought id start giving it another go, so went out bought some p40 and some p38 along with some of the small holed mesh to cover up holes that i accidently made.
at the start...

when i first did the bumper and bonnet

and atm.

The bumper is looking good, did you score (sandpaper) the bumper where the fibreglass paste is?? as this is maybe why it cracked off when you moved the bumper.

yeah mate i did, i know why it snapped, it wasnt just a gental move it was a "you will come off you c*nt" cos it was stuck so i just yanked it, anyways i went out and did somemore after i posted that, started sanding down the passenger side of the front bumper where it cracked, and just about started sanding the other side aswell, then fiberglassed one side of the rear bumper, couldnt do the other as i have to leave it standing up in a garage thats got loads of sh!t on the floor so didnt want any of it gettin in the fiberglass.

Your putting a bit too much on mate. Theres no need to coat the bastard in fibreglass :p

use p40 filler to fill in the grove and then use p38 to just skim over the surface for a smooth flat finish.

Fibreglass if a pain in the arse to sand down and get a great finish. Your just making extra work for yourself like that :)

lol yeah i know i mixed a tad too much up so i thought might aswell use it;)

yeah thats what i bought the p38 for and too fill in the little holes that the fiberglass has a tendancy to leave, and yeah i found out tonight took me from the first post to my post before this to sand that much of the front down, ive got some flat sander thing i used on the bonnet which came out neat so i think im gonna use that tomorrow, gonna make myself sound cocky now though, front will deffo be done by tomorrow night and rear should hopefully be too.
will.

keep up the good work mate ! il do my best to come down soon and do your bonnet for you. i have just spent the day debadging my front end and some c u next tuesday got pleasure out of keying my bonnet really badly so i have prepped and primed it and spent 8 hours wet flating it so it is perfect im going to paint it tommorrow so should look good

ah thats a bit sh!t that someone did that to your car mate, and do you think it might be before wednesday cos thats when i start my new job lol, could get a lil mini meet goin on at my house:cool:

im not to sure yet to be honest mate im up to my eyes in stuff at the moment. ive been in the bodyshop all day de handling and delocking and seeming the boot on a scooby ready for a repaint, when i finished that i painted my bonnet so all is good. only problem is that i was working from 10 am until 1 am lol

top tip for when filling big grooves like that 50/50 p38 +p40 gives you strength of fibreglass but the filling properties of filler, and it isnt a bitch to rub down :p

ah wiked cheers mate wish i'd read that earlier when you rote it, cos' ive just filled in the last insert for the rear bumper:( but yeah it is a bitch to rub down 100% agree'd
did get some pics of the front and the rear on how far along i am will upload later

right bit of a nice update since my last post as ive not had much time now im back at work doing 10hours a day, basicly got the bumpers almost 100%smooth now and i wanted to be different and have more cold air intake so i cut off the top section of the bumper where it sticks up under where the bonnet sits, not sure exactly what too call it but thats my way of explaining it:D pics too show:D

would this be the best method for me to use if i want to smooth out the bumpstrips on my sei bumpers???

[im new to all this fibreglass stuff  but i have come across some p38 in the garage at home, becuase my dad has been using it on something]

cheers

yeah probably would be, takes a while though and you have to remove the bumpstrips not just smooth over them, tbh i dont know how deep or wide they are on the sei compared to the cinq but should be the same sort of propertys, if you want some p40 just go to halfords and get some it think its like £12.99 a tin or something(y)

is p40 just paste stuff then? is that all i need?

i kinda wanna keep the shape of the strips, just sort of blend out the gaps if you get what i mena... i dont really wanna take the whole strips off...
cheers

if you want an easy job then i would remove the stips and sand the paint off the bumper around the area to be filled. i would then use filler and once dry sand it down to get shape . go over with some stopper paste and rub that down gently with some fine paper and then prime :)
