Ooooooh eck, I'm so excited by that finish that I nearly need a blood transfusion........
Flipping gorgeous to see such a rust free one after that.
Go on Vern take piccies of the holes, to show where rot appears in a good shell.
Should be a pointer for future owners as to where to look, as if we didn't know (EVERYWHERE).

I have a feeling it will go faster as it will be lighter.
I believe early World Rally teams dipped their cars in acid to reduce weight to gain an edge.
Panda WRC? 400kg 1.6 TFSI supercharged & turbo 300BHP
Ariel Atom country
Oooh I am off again,

More Pics :D...........

Tailgate and bonnet have no issues so can return for E coating as they are.

This is the second hand passenger door that I supplied as the original was too far gone for a project of this quality. As you can see it's turned out to be as good as new, so this too can return as is.

The drivers door has not fared so well, repairable yes but with all the other panels being so good I think it's right to replace this with a new one.

This is how the area in the passenger front footwell turned out, a small amount of patching required here. just shows how effective the process is at eating away the rust though!

No issues in these areas, pics are just out of interest. :)

With all of the sealant/underseal dissolved away we can see a few gaps between panels, this area being the worst. You can see why the seam under the back wheel arches rusts so badly now!
With all the gaps now obvious we can close them up and add more welding to make sure this Panda continues with better than factory build quality :D.

Most of the strengthening ribs in the bonnet, roof, doors etc. are bonded to the outer skins with sealant, so now this has gone they are very floppy. Once the E coating is finished we will have to bond them all back together again.

Finally, for now, here's the mystery picture competition...........

Can you tell what it is yet?

Now Vern, this is all well and good but I want to see the finished car. Looks to me like your slacking a bit . You've had the bits for more than 24 hrs so it should be completed by now :banghead: .

Hi Pandawoman

Welcome to the forum love the thread so far. Looking forward to seeing some before pics.
hi mark......glad you like the thread....afraid to say that my main contributions are the daft bits...its all been vernon's work so far....i am just a bit of an eccentric with a passion for these little cars and i wanted to save one but have it modified a bit.

mark, just noticed you are in eastbourne...i am in burgess hill so once bucket is completed you could see him in the flesh so to speak...we are not a million miles from each other. as for all you chaps from up north and the midlands etc i will have to come to one of your weekend events so as you can all get to see bucket ......maybe i could pass the hat round then.

Now I've removed the 4x4 stickers from the rear wings a couple of times, once to replace and once to remove them for good. Removing them is hard work as they really stick and emboss themselves into the paintwork over time. On the Panda I left them off of you could still see where they had been despite cutting back the paintwork a couple of times, but surely removing the paintwork completely would destroy all evidence?

Umm, no.............

And todays mystery part is.........
