Not getting bored; but now even more befuddled. If I didn't know the suspension had been removed, my first thought would have been a strut top sort of thing... -- but then I have springs and shocks and top mounts on the brain at the moment. Not a clue....

I think it probably is mould. There's quite a lot of evidence of water damage on Pippin's back end (probably from long years of cr*ppy storage...): and these will therefore be 'attacked' when the boot is stripped, and the tailgate removed....

That last one has me stumped, think I'll have to sleep on it.

Funnily enough my CLX (sold today) had one rusty tailgate buffer, I think they have a metal frame with plastic moulded around it, so it is probably staining from that.
