I bought unleaded petrol for our 500TA only two days ago at 107.9p per litre.

I know but it's an urban myth that's kind of embedded in regulations - will be interesting when Shell allow payment by Paypal.
and I could have bought the cheaper stuff for 108.9p but the car seems to be doing really well on higher octane stuff at the moment.
Their attendants never follow the law anyway regarding pump monitoring and fuel dispensing anyway. Its amazing they don't have more major incidents on their UK forecourts tbh.

This is no proof. You probably overfilled these 10 and 5 litre tanks...To those who think you can't get more than 35 litres into a 500. Had about 45 miles range left. Filled up a 10 and a 5 litre tank as well. So 38.67 litres of fuel in the car and 45 miles range plus a litre on top of that as you get 10 miles after you'd have run out according to the trip computer. Do the maths

because I want to prove that you can get more than 35 litres in a tank and be king of the internet or something.....
Personally I'm not going to worry about how many litres I can squeeze in a tank, or how many miles to a tank, but will fill it up to 3 clicks, then hopefully it will be a similar amount, as and when it gets low (ish) over the course of about 5 + fill ups , it'll all even out I expect.
MPG is my goal, and as fillups are an approximation, its never going to be 100%accurate, in tghe same way as a measured test. But still I'll have to improve on the first tank of 52.1mpg. Trouble is Swmbo uses it for v.short journeys under 2 miles each way, but in different directions, if that makes sense, so when I drive it I have to try to make 'double''gains to counteract the v. short trips. All fun.!

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought 306maxi used 53.67 litres to fill three tanks and then concluded that the tank of his car is the only one of those three having a larger capacity than specified. However, isn't it possible that the other two tanks have a larger capacity than specified? Maybe he managed to get 12 litres into the 10 litre tank and 6 litres into the 5 litre tank. In that case he would "only" have filled 35.67 litres in the tank of his car. That wouldn't be exceptional.For what gain
OR perhaps I put 10 litres in the 10 litre tank and 5 litres in the 5 litre tank and the rest went in the 500.
Why assume you know better than others? Why not ask?
Oh and I have run my tank dry before, hence knowing exactly how much will go in the tank

If you would have written that, I would have known, but you didn't mention how much you put in these separate tanks.
I don't. You tell half stories and assume that I can guess the missing part.
Are you a bit simple? It's quite simple, I put 10l in the 10l tank, 5l into the 5l tank and then I brimmed the cars tank.

Just to be clear, my car was not on its roof, on fire, the petrol was in liquid form and was paid for with a Halifax credit card.
Thought we'd go out to the coast today, as the weather is due to turn, So worked out to set trip B, and did so before starting the engine.
The above was travelling to Hastings and back, some m/way, some fast A roads, but not fast (traffic) , a long tailback due to roadworks, and some town driving. I'd go so far as to say its pretty good, for an engine with less than 600 miles use.
I was a bit miffed, as i'd got it up to 63.8mpg, but a red light 100 yds from my house scuppered this.
Don't forget this is the Twin Air version.
