Greetings! New member here, proud owner of 2008 500 Sport, in seek of possible ways to go about the trouble I've made for myself.
Some time ago I've bought TPMS module out of scrapped 500, part # is 68070888AF.
I have recently installed pressure sensors and connected (although in a VERY sketchy way, basically connecting the wires between OBD port and Bluetooth adapter) the module - it still worked and I could connect to TPMS in AlfaOBD. Also the odometer has started flashing after I've connected this contraption.
In AlfaOBD I then edited car configuration by only adding TPMS module there.
At proxy alignment I've got an error on TPMS module "Writing configuration to Tire Pressure Control Node (CPP)...Failed. Wrong request length or Invalid request format."
After proxy I've got TPMS warning icon (constantly flashing) on the instrument cluster and an extra page where tire info is supposed to be except it was all empty.
At the same time I can see correct(-ish) pressures in either monitoring or Read System Status info when reading TPMS module.
Using "Control unit activation" in active diagnostics section reports an error: "Failed. The ECU has detected that the request contains parameter(s) with value(s) outside allowable range."
I managed to find only one other mention of proxy failing here with (unsurprisingly) no answer.
My thoughts on possible reasons so far:
- Car configuration has multiple options and logic for TPMS (e.g. base/premium, kind of what's shown in this thread) so I have to retry other possible combinations.
- Cheap (as in "off ebay" cheap) sensors cause some incompatibility - yet they do display pressure and it looks close to be true.
- The connection is causing issues - I have no idea whether there is A LOT of communication during PROXY procedure but in case there is, I should probably add "proper" wiring.
- The module itself is malfunctioning - as it was from a scrapped 500, I have no idea of its past. Could it be possible to reset it in some way?
- Or the 2008 BCM is simply way too old and I want way too much out of it - OR it doesn't matter at all as the communication for both TPMS and instrument panel is on the same bus?
So yeah, if there are any thoughts of what else I could try, I'd be glad to hear it!
