Power Steering Rack Damp?

Just got my car back from MOT, it failed with corroded brake pipe (£10 + 1.8 hours fitting £80).

On the invoice it has under Advisories - Power Steering Rack Damp

They didn't say anything about it, what could cause this? Should I be worried? I notice when I go to full lock when stationary the steering makes a groaning noise, is this related?

Damp?! Maybe they mean its got some oil on it. It could be one of the gaiters is weeping.

I would not worry.

and yes, it will groan if you try full lock when not moving. Try turning the wheel with the engine off, its ALOT of force to get the wheels over that far
