iv an 01 mk2 punto 8v the red power steering light is coming on here an there an when i do full lock sometimes steering is very heavy an stops working i have change the power steering motor under steering wheel today still the same

also when im driving the car its all over the place steering feels as if wheels are lose wobling? im having no luck with this car and i need to sort it asap

all help greatly appreciated as its doing my head in at this stage

Has the new motor cured the steering wheel red light on the dash issue

i sorted the bad steering problem some1 decided to put 2 different branded tyres on the front :bang:

the new motor hasnt cured the red light on the dash so i dont know what else can be done now? can anyone help

If the steering only trips out at or near full lock when parking or such it might be just the battery is past it. The p/s draws a lot of juice and if the supply voltage drops it goes into a sulk. Different brand tyres won't make the steering feel loose. Are they the same size at least?

i would have to disagree if they were s/h and had gone to the style of the previous car then they could make handling distinctly odd
usually tracking where car been excessivly toed in causes car to feel like its driving on ice though so i dont disagree with you just adding to the mix

this is why i asked if new motor solved the light issue because i suspect theres 2 issues with this car
faulty part fitted
tracking miles out (faulty suspension item???????)

True. The joys of interweb diagnosis. Actually took a friend's wobbly feel Midget for a test drive before spotting new rubber on a skinny steely n/s front and a bald wide alloy offside with two of the wrong fasteners missing, as if Midgets needed an excuse to feel interesting.
