Hi, currently my punto 55 has manual steering, which tbh, i don't have a problem with, but my mother does, so ive been thinking on trying to convert my car to power steering. is it possible? and if so, would it be hard? Thanks :p

It is possible - but unfortunately its not worth the work and time to do. Most Mrk.1 Punto's (I'm assuming yours is one), that left the factory were non-assisted; all the 1.1 and 1.2 petrol models, I think only the GT's and turbo diesels had hydraulic power steering. You would need things like the new rack, additional hydraulic pipework, get the pump mounted to the engine, new belt and a new pulley from the engine.

The standard un-assisted steering is light once under speed and has 4? turns lock to lock to make parking easier.
If you suspect the car in question is particularly heavy, check that its still running the original size wheels and that the tyres are the standard width and they're inflated to specification. These two things can make a huge difference to the feel, and strength needed to turn the 'wheel.
