General possible remap issue???

Any recommendations? :)
A heavy duty clutch is a must if you're keeping the remap as it is

Do you know why the revs would bounce/yoyo up and down as they did then? Thought if it was the clutch the revs would just keep rising?
Never actually experienced this myself but the reason is purely theoretical:

As the revs go higher and the engine produces LESS torque then the clutch plates start to get a firm grip on the flywheel and start to slow it down but as the engine slows then the torque goes UP again which means the clutch starts slipping again. The actual strain on the clutch assembly doesn't bear thinking about while this is going one. The clutch friction material is literally being ripped to pieces

Also do you know why would only be apparent is higher gears? Assuming that more torque's required at higher speeds but took car up one of the sliproads near me (fairly good incline) in 3rd and was pulling fine up it under hard acceleration.
To make the clutch slip you need 2 things:
  1. Plenty of torque
  2. Somebody or something to stop the car moving
5th gear offers plenty of resistance to the car moving (gearing and air resistance etc) but it would still slip in 1st gear if you were prepared to drive into a concrete wall and dropped the clutch at 2000rpm ;) :D

lol cheers for the comments. I don't think I will try it against a wall just yet :)

Minimad, think my torque was around the 210 mark but looking at yours - 200 can only assume mine was probably around that. My BHP before was 119 and after was 147. Chap at Red Dot said that that was because of my turbo being on it's way but from this thread my clutch probably wasn't helping then.

Will post exact figures when I get home.

Thanks. It's a 52 plate. Done nearly 80k. Not sure what is considered normal for clutch life

Fergusona, please get in touch with me on 07977 300 447 and I will book a meeting with Red Dot, which obviously won't cost you anything regardless what the problem might be.
