Technical Possible new alternator?

Hi guys,

For a while now I have had a squeal come from my car when I started it in the cold, now however it's taken to doing it on warmer days.

My initial thought was that it must be the fan belt as they normally squeal when wearing out, so I got it replaced, however, it's still doing it! so now I think they may not have tensioned it properly.

My dad however, thinks it's my alternator bearings, would they squeal when worn?

Also it gets louder when I rev the engine but I would imagine either of these problems would do the same thing.

Anyone got any information?

If it only squeals when cold and only for about 10-20 seconds after starting the car, it could be a sign that the battery is failing.

Its a brand new battery though :O

Only bought it a few months back

Mine does the same kermit1992, i foned an alternator suppliers nearby and they said it was the bearings in alternator that will be worn. They do a repair kit for it. Or can buy a new alternator, those were my options.

No mines is a 1.4 8v active sport (unfortunatly)

How much is the replair kit johnlad?

And I think I saw a comment on here where someone was talking about the alternators costing 400 bucks!

Im sorry but thats how much it costs for my old man's Zafira! The comment may have been talking about the more powerful models though
