General Planning to buy 100HP

No, not nessecarily. Its only standard if they had it in stock on build day (y)

I really can't tell if you're being serious or if that's code for they forgot to fit something else :p

Found out from the ePER you can't just get the cap for the washer bottle, you have to get the whole bloody thing! So I'll be on the lookout for something else that fits to keep the crap out.

All - back to topic ;-) - I have news!!

I am now the very proud owner of a 100HP - well almost, deposit paid, collecting in 7-10 days.

See link in post #66.

Saw it at 9am today. Totally immaculate outside apart from one scratched alloy which I can sort out in time. Otherwise clearly a much loved car. One previous owner, clearly an enthusiast, right down to the red FIAT graphics on the wheels - not sure about them TBH.

Inside it is like new. You really can't tell it has been used at all!

I liked the dealer. It's an Alfa Romeo specialist and almost like a museum inside with classic Alfas and parts all over. Used to be a FIAT franchise and still sells them - check out their site - Black & White Garage - Cold Ash. www.blackandwhitegarage.com

He agreed to MOT it, service it (both due), touch up the alloy scratch, and do four wheel alignment - was slightly out on the test drive.

It had been reduced from £5500 to £5200 this week. He wouldn't budge below £5100 (I tried!) but it was in such good nick (and the dealer knew it) that I decided I couldn't miss out!

Very happy and can't wait to get my hands on it!

Thanks to you all for all your help and advice!

Cheers, Dunc

Piece of cling film / plastic / sweet wrapper, and an elastic band will probably do the job well (y)

Gratz on ur purchase Dunc! (y)

I bought my 100hp almost 2 months ago. Took me 5-6 months of e-bay stalking to find what I was looking for. As they say good things come to those who wait .
Snatched 2010 Fiat Panda 100hp in Blue, 15k miles, 12 months warranty, little beaut for £6000. From 1 lady owner (I take it she liked me alot since she dropped it from £6500), rear seats r technically were still brand new as no one sat at the back :D. Immaculate condition, even rims were like new (she clearly avoided parallel parking).

I so love this car so much now! My missus hates driving but 1 go in my panda and she jumps in at the offer to drive when Im tired! :D

Picking up next Tuesday afternoon! 7 days (slightly less actually!!) to go!

Sorted insurance today for the Panda and sorted a new policy for the Octavia to start on the same day - went with Adrian Flux. They were excellent and got me a great combined deal allowing me to use my NCB on both cars.......this was hugely helpful as my wife has been a named driver for 5 years and therefore her old NCB no longer counts.

Thankfully Skoda Insurance allowed me to cancel with no penalty as I was in my second year with them.

Two insurance cos. playing ball in one day!

Will keep you all updated as to how collection of the Panda goes!
Feels like the wait for Christmas when I was a young lad!

I've yet to ring Fiat and try and get a free mic fitted (as it should have been!)

Got a set of mats from the dealers the other day - if you go for them for the fasteners be careful how you screw them into the existing carpet, I twisted the top off one of mine. Luckily the dealer (Desira of Yarmouth) gave me another one without fuss. (y)

Forgotten mic, the last owner didn't look when putting the key in (scratches around the ignition switch), loose nut attached to the steering wheel - otherwise great, fun to chuck around (y)

[Edit] One major annoyance. I keep forgetting to put the parcel shelf back down...

There're always annoyances such as key scratches when you buy a 2nd hand car.

My other car was bought from new. If it makes you feel any better, the minor scratches caused by the kids & SWMBO irritate too - nail scratches under the outside door handles for example.

I've decided that, although I'm very keen to look after my things properly, especially my car, you can be too precious. Particularly when you have small kids like I do!

Glad you're enjoying the driving side of things. That's the part I'm looking forward to!

I imagine they are more irritating if you had the car from new, because then you know she knocked a bit of the value off each time :p

I only noticed the scratches on mine because I was kneeling on the pavement to install the fasteners for the mats. Despite the Panda ignition barrel being down a little tunnel to guide the key in all the scratches are on the outside of this, so maybe it was a big bunch of keys. No scratches on the outside under the handles.

No car remains scratch / mark free for long. Skodas & Fiats both pick up stone chips easily it seems.

I suppose we'd all go mad if we worried about every mark.

Driving fun at low / reasonable cost is increasingly where it's at for me, and so much the better if I can do so whilst avoiding the devil's fuel - i.e. diesel!

Picking up tomorrow afternoon! Wish me luck.

Full report on the buying / pick up / first drive experience to come..........

You'll enjoy every minute! I'm another who keeps forgetting to put the parcel shelf down.

Forgetting to put the shelf down gives you a "reversing in a daft 80s sports wedge with a letter box for a back window" feeling, enhancing sportiness ;)

At least it's possible to shut the hatch with the shelf up without damaging anything :). But for that, I'd probably be on my 3rd or 4th shelf by now...

Got it then?

Also, spotted this at Tesco today, anyone on here?
