Photoshop Challenge - 20-26/05/05

christ i havent checked the photoshop thread since the new challenge was announced and when i come back all hel has broke loose and revolution going on lol.

anyway evertone should do what they want (y) but personally challenge shold be kept as it is. the vote a the end is just a bit of fun. not liek we playing for cash :D

OK... I think this needs to be sorted in the fairest way possible.

Does anyone have the time to set up a poll with the options of the way to go forward with the photoshop challenges ?

I would do it but im having a bad brain day

Whatever the outcome, i will stick by the decision of the people and just stfu :yeahthat:

yep very true

so i have a radical plan dont change anything :) keep it exactly same format and if people enter they enter if they dont they dont :D

anyway this is what i have done so far, took me ages for some reason there are lots of lil minor adjustments that took time and now i done i cant even tell were they are so you wont know lol oh well here it is.

Well i just been having a look on the digimods forum, and they have a specific section in the forum, where each user can post there finished work and talk about it in that thread.

I think in all reality, thats what we need here. Surely it can't be too hard to just have a section dedicated to this stuff. It would solve a lot of the problems.
Just like there's a leisure lounge, there should be a photoshopping area with subsections for each of the challenges and also for the finished work.

Seems we didn't get a reply on the other thread :( No one cares about the photoshop section :bang:

I have been thinking about it, and it would be really good if we could get about 3 sub-sections for the photoshop section...

Help Area- (where members can ask to get something photoshopped on their car)

General- Work in progress + Finished projects

Challenges- For challenges ;)

I can't see the need for any others atm.

I think the Help Area, would be a nice asset for the forum because it is a service which can be offered to the members only.

What do you think?

Spot on Joe (y)
It's just a simple task to add these sections, so here's hoping... Fingers crossed...
I used to run a forum myself and i know how simple it would be to implement this. Maybe Ben just doesn't want it

In fairness to Ben, it's hardly Fiat related, so I wouldn't think it is top priority, no matter how simple. He may also be considering whether or not it is something he wants on the site. It is his site after all and whilst there may be a number of people that want it, it is hardly the majority of members. He may also be considering that if he allows this for a minority group, it will be difficult for him to turn down requests from other minority groups in the future.

If ben was against a photoshop section, there would not be a dedicated gallery.

I feel there are definate benefits for the section aswell. It would help out members when making decisions. For example:- if someone needed to see how their car wook look with certain features add/removed, it would save them from making a mistake.

Also, i think that this forum relies heavily on its community atmosphere, a new section would add to this. IMO more features like this, which the site can offer to its members can only benefit it.

Meant to respond earlier. Nice work Fishdude, there are probably some subtlties that I have missed, but I'm sure everyone can see the colour change and the work on the front end.

Sorry for causing a bit of unrest in the photoshop ranks I didn't mean to

Anyway I think a photshop section is a great idea. I'm not sure why we got a car care section instead when you've been asking for a photoshop section for months but still. I think it would be well used, but maybe you should just go for the one section first and see how it goes? After which your structure sounds perfect.

Cheers for the support Dr P :) I am sure we could get away with 1 section, and just use different titles for different topics.

For Example-

'REQUEST-.........'
'CHALLENGE-........'
'W.I.P-..........'

etc

This will probably be the route we need to take, as this is a car forum, and most of the cars on here don't have 3 sub-sections.

cheers,

Thought I would post a little update. Not too much change, just working on the shape of the wide body stuff. Moved the door in to allow for a front and rear vent. Also added a little detail to the existing side vent and reshaped it a bit to allow for the change to the door.

I have to say it's a smegging nightmare doing this by hand. I know it allows totally bespoke stuff, but copying and pasting is just so much faster. Oh well, if I'm lucky I may actually have time to draw a new kit on it. Then again, since I'm hosting, I don't suppose it really matters if I finish it late.

Cool, like the subtleties, although I'm sure most of them would be missed without very close scrutiny. There are a couple of things that I would look at. The rear spoiler visible through the rear window is still yellow, you may already be aware, I don't know if you were going to address that later, if you have window tints intended or whatever. Also the front area below the lights, the bar in the centre needs to be moved a little further away to make it central and I'm not sure you would be able to see so much, if any, of the white on the bar coming down at the far side. I may be wrong on both counts, but as it is, it looks, to me at least, as though the front area below the lights is looking slightly more towards the camera than the rest of the car.

Either way it's a good design and good smooth finish.

The lights, by the way, were a major pain in the arse. Getting the actual lights units themselves to look right wasn't too bad, although I'm still not sure about having angled them downwards so much, but getting the light reflections off the glass right is a real pain, still not at all sure about what I've done with that. I tried to keep the light similar to the original image, but obviously being on a different surface which is slightly more reflective, it's not quite indentical. I may well revisit the lights at some point, but there are still plenty of other things I want to do yet.

yep i still have soem work todo, the central bar you are right i have moved it once but need more adjustment. as for the bar at the far side you will be bale to see it, that is actuallythe original bar from original pic and i havent moved it so i am assumingthe orig pic was all correct. as for the window spoiler had spotted that but i had forgoten ttill you remined me (y) thanx. need to do some more work. have added another front feature i quiet like will post pic later.

just had a look and checked measurement and that bar is in middle allready hmmm somthing i have done makes it look wrong you are right it does look like its facing more towards screen that rest of car.

Just a thought, but you said you had measured it to check that it is central, but for it to look central the near area should be larger than the far area, what with perspective making things look smaller when they are further away.

I like the bonnet vent, I was going to do something similar. I would like to do more eccentric things with the bonnet, but I'm not sure if I am up to it or if I will have the time.
