Thanx (y)
That chop is looking excellnt mate... Love that colour on this one. It was on my shortlist of colours but i went for a blue instead. Nice work on that intake, looks really cool

Is it just me or does this car look almost cartoonish ?
I find it very pastel in colour and it seams to only look right if you go down the hand drawn cartoony route

I think it's a car that you can go really over the top with. The starting colour of yellow was supposed to be a bit of a challenge, it's a lot easier to change more neutral colours realisticly.

Everyone's work is looking good so far.

I appreciate what you are saying KoA, but if I ever change anything that is similar to someone elses idea it's only because I want to create something unique, not because I think I will get accused of copying, even though I have been accused of copying before, although it was only in jest, I think.

I still fail to see how anyone will benefit from people not entering the vote. It's just going to get confusing for the voters. You said you want your work to be discussed, but without the vote that's only going to happen on this thread, and there is a lot less discussion about end products on this thread than there ever is on the poll thread. If you list your car on the poll thread but it is not one of he poll options, people are just gonna think, what's going on, I want to vote for that one, but it won't let me. That could then lead to people abstaining from voting as well, because they can't vote for the car they want to. It just strikes me that it is going to cause problems.

So i won't post it on the vote thread then :)
If doing the chop and not entering the votes is a problem for everyone then please say so now and i'll just not do the chops.
Also if anyone wins and they really don't want to host the next challenge, you can always ask me to do it, if i'm not entering ;)

Koa, do the chop, and don't enter. It's your choice; you don't have to enter just because they think you should.

With my last chop I added reflections, and was accused of copying and pasting someone else’s work onto mine. I take pride in brushing on my kits and adding reflections where needed. I think this takes a bit of skill to do, so when I am accused of cheating after taking a harder route, I am naturally going to be a little pissed off. If people think that it is not right me photoshopping the current weeks car and not entering, Fair enough, but for me the voting aspects of the challenge do more harm than good and I will be staying out of that part.

There is no clear criteria for the voters to use ATM, so what do we gain from the results? The only thing I can think of is we have someone to pick a car for the next weeks challenge.

When the Photoshop section is finally put up and we have challenges with clear sets of rules, then the results of the votes will be a much better reflection of the effort/skill of the entrants.

As I have said before, the Photoshop challenge will have to do for now. It gives us a new car each week, and when we finish we can compare our work with each other. I do not see winning the challenge as an incentive, just that I will have to host the competition next time. IMO if there was no vote, then the negative side of hosting is taken away. Although, it does mean that we would have to find another way to pick the host of the next challenge.

Rite after much thought i have decided not to enter this week due to revision purposes!!

However if its any consolation this was my plan, to turn the car into a plane :D

Whats happened to this friendly and straight forward competition??!! It always seemed to be going fine
It's still friendly (y) I don't understand why it's such a problem that i don't want to enter the vote, thats all

Joe, i totally understand where your coming from on this, I know how much pride you take in the work that you do and I know it's all hand done, so you have every right to be annoyed.

Well, the way i see it, we have a photoshop gallery where there is the option to reply to peoples work, directly with the finished chops.
Joe has kindly posted replies to a couple of my chops in the past and i think for those that don't enter the actual vote, it would be a good way to discuss the work.

Don't get me wrong I can understand everyone's reasons for not wanting to enter the vote, the thought is quite appealing to me too, I just don't want it to cause everything that has been achieved so far to break down and us end up not having any challenges at all.

I have had a thought that I think would be quite good. Rather than voting for the winner of the challenge, why not everyone submit the cars that they think should be hosted for the next challenge and then vote on which image will be the next chop, that way we will be chopping the car that most people would like to see. As far as the hosting is concerned, that could be whoever's image gets chosen for the next chop or it could be a volunteer, whatever I'm sure finding a host is not really an issue, I would do it every week rather than everyone lose interest.

By the way Joe, I don't know whether there were any PM's involved in you being pissed off, but all I saw on the public forums was one person questioning whether your reflections were taken from another image, which I think is a fair enough question, particularly if the question was from someone who isn't photoshop literate. I certainly didn't see any accusations, but then I may not have been witness to the full story.

nice one neofolis, great idea. Lets give that a try.

The person (out of those who enter ;) ) who gets the most votes this week, kicks that off next time.

cheers,

There were no PM's.

I understand that the person might not have been photoshop literate, but i felt it was questioning my integrity. I am very against the stealing of parts, and this made me annoyed that someone would accuse me of doing just this. I responded in the best way that i could, but i did not recieve a reply following it.

The new format should stop this type of thing happening as there will be no reason for cheating if the competitive aspect is taken away.
