unfortunately captainslarty has gone and got himself banned so you're more or less on your own now....

What.....banned for ever or is there a time limit on it?

And if anyone could help me understand I'd be grateful. MES is displaying/acknowledging 'gas pedal' movement and displays it as a percentage. As regards the 'throttle' position, it shows no movement and in some tests, it shows as 91.6 degrees and in others, it displays 6537 degrees.

So what is this telling me? I've tried the new (secondhand) TB as well as the original and I get the same readings from both. So is MES telling me that the TB's are screwed and throwing out duff data from the sensor or is it the ECU gone mad? How would a garage diagnose a duff ECU anyway?

have you done a throttle learn?

Yes but it didn't do anything. And since I got hold of a copy of MES, I can see why as the issue seems to be surrounding the weird throttle position sensor displaying 91.6 or 6537 degrees, which can't be right and is probably what is preventing the car from revving cos the ECU is probably wondering what's going on with such a reading??

But this is where my knowledge runs out. I want to test the 6 wires going to the TB but as I don't know what I'm expecting exactly, it's difficult to know whether it's right or wrong. There are 6 wires going into one connector block. I believe there are 2 potentiometers, at least there is from the accelerator pedal. If this is correct, I'm guessing 2 sets of 3 with each set having 1 earth, 1 live and 1 wiper.

BUT something has to power the TB actuator. So does this come from these existing wires internally within the TB housing or do I have one set of 3 wires for a single throttle positioning sensor and the other 3 wires to operate the actuator?

To be able to get hold of a wiring diagram or someone who understands this setup would be a big help.
