Hey guys

The wife was about to leave for work this am, opened the windows on the 500 to remove condensation... but the passenger one won't close.

When you press the switch you can hear a relay or something 'click' but no joy.

Restarted the car, still no joy

Any ideas? Did search but couldn't see any threads for this for the 500, leading me to believe it isn't a common issue?

Thanks

Rob

I would start by looking at the wires that run from the body to the door.

Ran it to my mate's garage.

Checked the switch and wires with an altimeter etc - all good.

Door card off and smack the motor with a hammer... works again.

Not sure if this is a long term fix - car has a warranty so would you look to replace the motor?

I had this problem on my old lounge when it was 1 year old but on the drivers side. It was the window regulator which was replaced under warranty.

What type of warranty is it?

If it's in it's first two years it would normally be covered by FIAT's warranty. If it's in it's third year it will be a dealer warranty and you may have to 'persuade' the dealer to fix it.

If it's a third party warranty or an insurance based one you may find it is not covered as often these only cover major components (engine, gearbox drive train etc) and this is unlikely to qualify.

(I also wouldn't mention the 'temporary fix' as they may try to claim that has compounded the problem).

I had a quick look, only thing I can say is one cable is as tight as a piano wire the other is "normal " think it maybe simpler just to replace the window regulator ?
mine is doing same thing I changed regulator, brand new one and still doing it. Permanent power to the window motor. Switch is fine. Did you sort yours? Leaving it will burn out the motor or flatten the battery or both.

Have just left it for now, motor still connected, not had any issues so far. Life is getting in the way of fixing it at the mo when the weather warms up will look at it may get a secondhand one with a new window fixing clip, will try it "off the car" first.

Guess what the same issue has happened again, but I think I know the cause, I disconnected the battery to repair the rear hatch wiring seems too coincidental that it's cropped up again? Never did find a fix just one day it started working again, typically its as the hotter months are hee as it hasn't got ac, anyone got any suggestions? Again you can hear a relay or something in the door click but no movement thankfully its closed.

Look in Doblo section..

Somebody discovered there is a small PCB that drives the motor
( the autoclose feature)

Here you go..
