My '04 Dynamic has been recalled today. No news on the '58 100HP, which no longer has ABS??

If it does get recalled, I might just take it in, just to see the look on the mechanics face when he sees all the Goodridge hosing and no ABS!!

More news on this now..firstly its the ecu they change and not the ABS unit..still fiddly to get at though under battery..and secondly its only cars up to 07 as TDQ has said..there is a seal on the ECU to keep out water and road salt etc and the seals been crapping out [for want of a better term ]:p anyway job done and all is OK..while there tho I encountered another dilemma..on the forecourt is a metallic blue 1.2 dynamic 08 plate with 10 miles on the clock and they offered me £3700 part ex on my yellow one against the newer one  so £3K cash gets me the 08 one..also they are willing to swap my alloys and stainless exhaust over onto the 08 as well with no charge to me

Mrs PNL said go for it but I dont know what to do TBO..:bang:

3k wasted IMHO. Sure the blue is nicer than the yellow but you know what your yellow one has done and what has been done to it and who knows what the blue one's been through :) Series 2 Panda is out later this year and the new model should be out soonish as well I guess, personally I'd rather hold out for something vastly different and possibly improved. Just my 2p though :)

Hold on - this is all really weird. I have a March 2006 Panda and have had no recall notice for ABS (and nothing in the service record to show that it has been done either).

I say that it is weird - because you are all discussing it as if it is a new thing. My searches show that Fiat announced this recall in 2007 - as listed on the EU consumer site here: http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/dyna/rapex/create_rapex.cfm?rx_id=121 where it says:

"Brand: Fiat
Type/number of model: Fiat Panda with ABS (Anti-Blocking System). Cars equipped with ABS produced in the period between June 2003 and November 2006.
Cars of series from the beginning of type to 797330.
Country of origin: Poland

This product poses a serious risk of fire because the ABS welds are leaky thus water intrusion is possible. Water intrusion may cause short circuit and car ignition"

So why are the recall letters coming two years later? "Serious risk of fire" sounds like the sort of thing you don't want to hang about with to me.

Looks like my 07 is not affected as it has a chassis number starting 855***. Phew!
