Panda Immobiliser vs radio

Hello all

2006 panda, with the basic CD player.

I removed the CD player, and replaced it with a basic blauplunkt MP3 player. I didn't do anything clever with the wires, just plugged the block into the back of the new radio

When I put the key in the car, turn it to on, the immobiliser light stays on. turn the key off, then back on, and the immobiliser light will now switch off, and the car starts normally.

If I totally unplug the new radio, this issue goes away, immobiliser switches off first time.

I didn't believe this when I saw it, so I checked a few times. The immobiliser problem only occurs with the new radio in.

Is there a simple fix to de-couple the immobiliser from the new radio?

That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. To me it suggests a short somewhere in the radio circuit as (AFAIK) they're not connected in any way. Does the issue occur with the original CD player installed?

All is fine when I re-install the original CD player.

The new radio works ok, it powers up,plays music etc, it just upsets the immobiliser

Nope, still radio-less,

I'm going to try with a different radio, but need to order another. Currently driving round with no radio, which is annoying

So I just purchased a jvc Bluetooth head unit. Plugged it in, and it worked no problem. The immobiliser seems to dislike the blauplunkt head unit.
