Well, it's home! :D

A huge thanks to Stuart, Jim and Alan for the help, I wouldn't even have begun to get it sorted without them.

The quality of the work is superb, it just needs a bit of finishing and primed and sprayed. Other than that and a rear brake bulb it's MOT ready. Here's the photos from today.

We arrived at Stuart's house after 10am and the car was sitting up the side of the house. It didn't want to start though. :( A quick rummage about in the engine and blocking the vacuum advance got it fired up and ready to roll.

A switch to a set of road legal tyres from a Seicento (which I quite like on the Panda) and we were ready to roll.

On the road. I was a bit nervous at first as it was my first proper drive in the car and the first time I've had it in fourth gear. Once warmed up it drives well, it didn't miss a beat during the 30 mile drive home.

As I say, the work is first class. Here's the repairs to the drivers side seam and seatbelt mount, you'll remember that it had gone completely.

...and the drivers side repair where the plastic trim is. When the trim was removed a great bit chunk of rust came away as well.

The passengers side repair which runs the length of the boot floor and under the rear seat.

In it's parking spot, waiting for a good clean. :)

Looks a lot better :D
And I prefer the Sei steels to the original ones :)
I reckon you could have it resprayed and get the odd jobs done and get the MOT and probably have change from £300.......especially if you know someone with a compressor ;)

I've a compressor if you want to borrow it...

(yeah, it was one of those things that I thought would come in handy but it's been stuck up the back of the garage for the last year.....)

Jim

How big is it ? (the compressor Jim:rolleyes: ) mines on it's way out so if your selling I might be interested.

Hi Steve, bet you're gutted. There's nothing that beats a low flying Panda doing 90 when all the body shakes! Never quite mananaged a ton in mine but I came pretty close. And if you think yours is bad I had an Uno that looked liked it had been through Beiruit! The great thing about Fiat owners is that they are eternal optomists. My cinq has now died and I'm very very sad! I absolutely love Fiats they are a joy to drive but a complete bastard to own yes you have got to be a complete nutter! But thank god there are still some of us about. going to buy a Fiesta tomorrow I am so sad. Anmyone listening to........ Rufus Wainwright, Leonard Cohen, or Morrissey in the North of England? Told you, you had to have a good sense of humour! Love to all fiat owners and good luck and joy. xxxx

Jim I have enough to get my teeth into. Can I now go back to mending my own cars now that I have yours and Steves done. :D

Cheryl could you not go and buy a Panda or Punto. Why buy a Fi, Fie, Fies, "Sorry I can't bring myself to say it", when you love Fiats so much?

I was out working at the car this afternoon. It's coming on in leaps and bounds.

The first job was to tackle the rust at the bottom of the drivers door, which is pretty much the only rust left on the car. It was pretty bad.

I used a wire brush set which attaches to the drill, this made short work of the rust bringing the door back to bare metal. I then brushed Kurust into the door to kill whatever rust remained.

After leaving it to dry in I got the filler out and filled the holes. When it was dry I sanded it down. It's now ready to prime and spray.

Next job was to sand the bootfloor seams a bit, prime them and spray them. Here's the passengers side.

...and the drivers side. It's looking pretty good.
