General Panda 750 Progress

Weldings all done now, so I'm tidying it up so it will look ok. Although you can't see it in the pic the drivers side all the way along the seam was gone for half an inch up and in on the floor as far as the first ridge. I have have a more pics and will pass them on to you Steve to host. I Think I got all the bad bits out. I'm sure those nice MOT men will let us know if we did or not.
I couldn't let the only 750 in N.I go and as well as that I couldn't be called a Panda killer like Steve no could I.

The 750 is coming home on Saturday! Photos of me breaking down on the motorway in an untaxed, unmoted car will follow on Sunday... :(

It is insured though. :)

Thankfully we'll be taking 'Thunderbird2' with us on Saturday so all will be OK!

(The 4x4 Kangoo is big, carries lots of useful stuff in an emergency, practial, goes anywhere, and has a big hatch on the back and on the roof!)

Or we'll put in in the back of Thunderbird2.....

Well, it's home! :D

A huge thanks to Stuart, Jim and Alan for the help, I wouldn't even have begun to get it sorted without them.

The quality of the work is superb, it just needs a bit of finishing and primed and sprayed. Other than that and a rear brake bulb it's MOT ready. Here's the photos from today.

We arrived at Stuart's house after 10am and the car was sitting up the side of the house. It didn't want to start though. :( A quick rummage about in the engine and blocking the vacuum advance got it fired up and ready to roll.

A switch to a set of road legal tyres from a Seicento (which I quite like on the Panda) and we were ready to roll.

On the road. I was a bit nervous at first as it was my first proper drive in the car and the first time I've had it in fourth gear. Once warmed up it drives well, it didn't miss a beat during the 30 mile drive home.

As I say, the work is first class. Here's the repairs to the drivers side seam and seatbelt mount, you'll remember that it had gone completely.

...and the drivers side repair where the plastic trim is. When the trim was removed a great bit chunk of rust came away as well.

The passengers side repair which runs the length of the boot floor and under the rear seat.

In it's parking spot, waiting for a good clean. :)
