Can't beat family run dealers.

You know I would normally agree, but I've temped 3 days this week at a Land Rover dealership which is part of a chain and found the operation to be rather fantastic and if I was going to buy a Land Rover or Range Rover I'd happily deal with them.

I pointed out this morning to salesman that an Evoque had a couple of dents, he was a bit busy so didn't get a chance to let the finance guy who is delivering it tomorrow know, anyway it came close to closing time and I mentioned it to a colleague who said I should go and tell the finance guy. Let him know and said that they were practically invisible but he seemed very unhappy that he was going to be delivering a car to a customer that wasn't perfect.

Picked up the Green 4x4 (1.3 mjet) yesterday and have to say I'm delighted with it. Covered it in mud already heading off for a surf in the afternoon! Will write a review in next few days but safe to say that the engine is even better than I thought on test drive. It's got plenty of pull at about 2000 rpm (I live in coastal cornwall so plenty of hill climbs). Really enjoyed throwing it around a field or two and unmade beach car parks too!

Great fun!

Awesome, Lets have some pics then!!

Good video here which really shows the orange paint well.
They also line up all 3 generations. Must say, I still love generation 2!
They also do some off roading later on.click

some nice pics of a silver one here too. Looks great I think! click

Those are the ones that had me ordering the silver with sand light interior before I decided to go mad and have the orange as it looked so fun. Still not sure the interior in orange too isn't going to be too much.

I wish I understood what they were saying in the French video :(

It'll be great, don't worry. It looks awesome!

How long to go?

Thanks for that :)

It was down as a week 7 build last time the dealer told me (which was the 17th Jan) but I emailed the dealer on Thursday to see if anything had changed with it's status and I'm disappointed to say I've heard nothing. It's a real shame as it's nice to know what's going on, even if it's 'nothing has changed'.

I tried to find out if you could check yourself, there's some links to an American site for checking on 500 orders but it makes no difference which numbers I put in from my order it doesn't like them.

It's still good to see all the videos and photos (I look each day). Fiat still don't appear to have an updated English 4x4 brochure yet (not when I asked a week ago) even though I posted the Italian one ages ago.

I guess it'll probably be middle of March (I hope).

I use Grays for servicing, but found them uncompetitive when it came to buying a new car, so bought from Rockingham Cars in Corby. They are part of a big chain but very personal service from Alex Pun the sales manager.
I'm originally from Oxford & the Parents are still there. We didn't wanna give Hartwell the business for the Parents 500 purchase because of experience with their Vauxhall & Ford franchises.

There's 4 possible nearby options that avoid Hartwell:

Mellors of Challow - not 100% sure if they can order new Fiat's, but they did servicing on my Mk1 Punto that i owned a few years back & were decent enough. It was quite an old-school outfit (hand written invoices etc) but if that doesn't bother you, might be worth a go.

JayBee Motors, Banbury - Only just got the Fiat franchise but bought a Renault from them a few years back. The car was very problematic and whilst not perfect, they could've been a hell of a lot worse and the errors made seemed purely accidental.

T H White, Cirencester - Another recent addition to the Fiat network. Never used them or even been there but they're a long established company that also sells agricultural vehicles and Land Rover, Izuzu and Subaru aswell as Fiat/Alfa (and Abarth coming this year). I can't imagine Izuzu or Subaru put up with shoddy customer service from their franchises, so might be a good bet.

Grays Garage, Warwick - We used Grays for the purchase of my Parents 500 TA Lounge and they were excellent. Knowledgeable and not at all pushy. Kept in contact during the order process, but only phoned when they had something worthwhile saying. Professional and thorough on handover, phoned to make sure everything was ok after collection & were apparantly very helpful when the 500 threw a wobbly last week & wouldn't start & my Mum phoned them to ask if there were any known faults like this reported to them. We dealt with Jane for the purchase, though the whole outfit seems staffed with people who actually want to be there, rather than just go there daily for abit of money. Good, old-fashioned customer service was how my Dad summed it up, which is why Grays got our custom.

One further away recommendation would be Pewsham Garages near Chippenham. That's where i've taken my Stilo for servicing/work and they're much the same as Grays. Small showroom, no fancy frilly bits, just decent, honest service. We'd have gone there for the 500 but Grays were open later on a Sunday when the parents were initially looking, so to allow us time to get from Oxford, we figured Grays the best option at the time & following the good service on the initial visit, saw no reason to look elsewhere to place an order.

Best of luck.

has anyone seen a Mediterranean Blue one yet or know of one at a dealer?

I'm keen to get an early peek and get some idea of what we can expect :)

5 weeks maybe then?

I'm still at light variable I think. I was at my dealers yesterday and I looked at the board of incoming stock. They have six 4x4 on the way. 3 twin air, 3 multijet in various colours.
Orange being one of them!!

Amazing they are getting so many. I'm still surprised that interest on the forum appears to be limited but when I spoke to a dealer before they released the new 4x4 they said they'd a list of about 30 people who wanted to see it.

Mind you, this is a dealer that took my details and never called so they could have been talking rubbish.

I think I saw blue as one of the cars coming in to griffin mill? I'll get some pics of it if so (y)

I heard today that over 30% of panda sales are 4x4 at the moment.

Thanks deeyup - that is much appreciated (y)

As to 30% - that amazes me. Okay, that is 30% of not-a-lot, but it must surely be testament to FIAT making a car that seemingly the press only have praise for. Autocar still rates the regular 2012 Panda as the best all rounder small city car, and preferred over the VW Up and as to the 4x4 the praise is stacked even higher. One theme that runs through many of the review is the ride quality of the 4x4 - certainly this struck me too as excellent from my test drive. I think this could well be the factor that turns people from 'maybe' and 'thinking about' it to 'yes'. Please FIAT - keep this up!

:)

The ride in the 4x4 is very good. So much better than my 500.
Its one of the reasons I'm changing to one.
I presume the trekking will be the same too and I reckon they'll shift plenty of those.

With the price reductions sales can only gone from strength to strength for Panda.
Have you seen supasavers latest prices? They are better than group deals in some instances!

As far as i can see the 4x4 and Trekking at supasavers have zero discount listed on the website. I phoned them about a week ago and the most they could offer was £500 off the 4x4 TA.

Give it time. If the supply is there, & they're looking to boost the volume of Panda sales (and why wouldn't they?), the 4x4/Trekking discounts will soon match those of the 2wds, just like last time around.

Goody goody - I fancy an orange 4x4!

I've just driven down to Plymouth to visit a friend for a few days and I've seen an orange trekking on the front of a transporter heading in the opposite direction and it did look rather fun.

Does anyone know if there's an orange one at a fiat dealer around the Plymouth area while I'm down here I could pop and see ?

Had my 1.2 Easy into Desira Norwich for the inevitable boot latch replacement under warranty today. Took the opportunity to persuade the sales staff for a spin in the diesel 4x4 demonstrator they have.

First impressions (and this is the first time I've driven any Panda other than my own) are extremely positive. The diesel is very well weighted - both in terms of driving style and clutch / throttle / steering feel. It was like driving a "grown up" version of my Panda. Excellent grip in the immediate aftermath of another sleet shower this afternoon, and the extra eight inches make all the difference (arf arf).

One and only regret of buying my Panda is that I missed out on this version. Going to recommend it highly to family members who live rurally and dream about it until my PCP deal ends in 2016 :)

Just looking at the Spanish Fiat web site (yes, sad, I know )

It looks like they have some kind of scrappage scheme on the go.
A new panda 4x4 twin air for €10500 complete with 4 years warranty and 4 years maintenance. Bargain!!

Normal price is €16750 which is £14500 but at the moment promotion price €14463 which is £12500=still a good deal!

this zip in pocket looks handy
