General Panda 4x4

Almost certain that the one in the article is cancan red which is oddly enough, red!

The sunset red is more of an orangey/bronzey colour - not really red in my eyes. I like the sunset but not everyone does - there should be plenty at the dealers and it's a colour you need to see on the car.

I think I've seen all the colours now - hardest to find at a dealer will be the 2 trekking/4x4 colours.

That's the cancan one I think - the sunset is more bronzey. Yes the cancan looks good in the metal

Hi all, decided to go for the white, looked at all the colours but could not decide. I looked at the orange but still just couldn't get on with it, even though it might have grown on me just didn't feel right. Should be arriving mid March but dealer said it could be a bit earlier.
After being back in my Cross again this morning, it does feel a bit different as in ride quality and the engine seems not as refined but still love the Cross to bits,just hope it's new improved brother is as good.

Has anyone established a real, day-in-day-out/mixed motoring mpg for the 4x4 TA yet? I realise it's early days and any figures at the moment will improve with loosening up but it would be useful.

What did you go for? Twin air or multijet? Any options ?

Did the multijet feel stronger in the new model as it has 30% more torque than the old one?
What kind of mpg did you get on the computer during your test?

I went for a nosey round the local Fiat/Kia garage today. Place was in uproar as just had deliveries that morning.
A salesman approached and I asked after the Trekking. They had a 'dirty red' trekking round the back and a 'you can't see me cos I'm green' 4x4 hiding on the grass verge out front.
"Was I interested in the Trekking" the salesman asked,
"More curious" said I.
I hate to say this but the Kia soul looked more exciting high on a tilting plinth out front with trendy halfblack/polished alloys and body graphics than either of the Panda's. I wonder which are selling better?

Just went for the MJ with the Tom Tom mount on the dash. I was averaging 42-43,but I do drive not really to save fuel so I don't think it is bad for a new engine.

Hi all,

Just ordered a Green 4x4 mjet today for pick up next week (I took the stock car with 23 miles - driven by me - on it). 5 seats and spare wheel as extras.

I test-drove both the MJet and the Twin air. The Twin air is undeniably the more fun drive (as long as you like the whine it produces) but the mjet drives well and the extra torque will come in handy off road (I live in rural Cornwall).

It's a big improvement on the mk3 model (having driven but not owned a Cross) in my eyes and I'm expecting the residuals to be strong - Fiat expect to shift about 600 of these in the uk?

I loved the green and green dash - gives it a kind of utilitarian feel!

All round great car to replace my Golf.

Nice one - which dealer did you get it from? - I'm in Devon so looking for best potential local deal, though we bought Mrs b_u's 1.2 Mk 3 from Perry's in Bucks.

Vospers in St Austell. Original £600 discount added to as they had already hit sales figures for the month (so more commission on subsequent sales).

It seems that most dealers were sent a white Twinair and Green MJ so other colours will need to be factory ordered. I liked the green anyway but just had to decide if I'd order a Green Twinair or take the Green Mjet.

Thats a decent discount! Our dealer had a white T-A and a green M-J, though before Christmas they were only expecting a black M-J.

Anyhow, it looks as though the Mediterranean Blue may end up being one of the more unusual colours, as folk seem to be going for white, orange or green.

I had some time today, so took my wife and kids to look at the 4x4.

I'm interested in what mpg they will get so took both motors out

We did the exact same route at similar speeds. It was about an 8 mile route.
The twin air got 36mpg on the computer.
Multijet got 48mpg.

Interestingly the twin air demo had just over 1000 miles on comp trip B. it was showing 29mpg.

The twin air is definatley peppier and seemed more fun to drive.
But the multijet wasn't far off the pace and is certainly totally liveable with.

I'd have to do some maths to make a decision on which motor makes most sense for me.

Good news.....nice to hear someone actually buying one of the showroom/demo models.

It's a little disappointing given the poor weather that the 4x4 demo cars aren't selling even though a number of people are going for white or green. I guess they're quite expensive compared to the Dacia models (which keeps being pointed out) but also there's just so much choice in the car market, so many discounts and also so many new cars coming out.

Congratulations though Dan. I'm looking forward to mid March when mine will hopefully arrive.

It's early days with the showroom/demo models and it doesn't seem Fiat are making enough use yet of really good reviews on the 4x4. For me the Panda is streets ahead of the Dacia (apart from room) though both might not appeal to many 4x4 buyers (badge appeal?)

That said, I'm happy for the Panda 4x4 to go under the radar of most buyers as keeps residuals high for clever buyers like us! I imagine the Panda will be a keeper for me.

That's interesting. I went for the mjet as I thought I'd end up driving the twinair really hard (which would be a lot of fun) as the engine kind of begs you to - making the mpg difference more likely to be 15 or so. Still, even if that's the case the cost would end up netting zero for both. The mjet might have better residuals though.

That and the added torque off-road with the diesel.

Yep, I'm still concerned it's going to be rather 'look at me', when I like the orange as it's fun. My brother wanted me to go for the green and I do think it's a nicer look for the car but I just can't imagined I'd buy any other car in orange (not that I can afford anyway...I'd go for a Lambo in orange ;-) so here goes.

Apart from the orange I would have actually been interested to see the beige as it actually looks quite nice on the Trekking vids on youtube...I must be getting too old thinking a beige car would be ok.

Anyway, look forward to your ownership review.
