Hey all, the engine on my 500 1.4 sport blew yesterday. The rest of the car is nice enough to put a new engine in. My question is if anyone knows if the 1.4 from the panda 100hp is exactly the same engine? They are about 30% cheaper here so it's definetly worth it in terms of cost. And if it is the exact same, are the mounting points a straight swap aswell? Thanks in advance!

I think they are exactly the same. Make sure to use your original ECU and you should be good to go.

Isn't the 1.4 sport an 8v engine whereas the Panda 100HP is 16v so there'll be a few differences such as the 16v having a aluminium sump instead of steel like the 8v, 16 valves instead of 8 valves & probably different size throttle body's as well etc
Think the 1.4 sport is the same as my 1.4 lounge ('08), which is a 16v and makes 100hp (according to the lettering embossed on the airbox). I've seen several other threads in this forum say it's the same as the panda 100hp engine, but I personally can't vouch for that.
