Qualified agreement.

Do your calculations take the difference in road tax into account? Also, anyone doing a significant mileage on the continent is going to save much more on fuel costs with an MJ. There are also the questions of reduced emissions from the MJ, and the difference in performance, which are more subjective but important to some people.

We don't have road tax in Guernsey ;):)

We did have it but now we pay more petrol tax instead ( our current unleaded price now is about 93p per litre on average )

I agree in the UK this needs to be taken into consideration.

babbo umbro,
I do believe that the diesel is worth buying just for the torque itself. The difference is tremendous. With the diesel I get to drive in 4th 5th 6th gear press the pedal and get mid accelerations petrol can only dream about. Then there is the economy... but thats just me, and I don't want to get off topic.
I want to get opinions about the Fiat engines and LPG :)

I am chilled by the way lol ! ;):)

I agree with you that the Multijet is the better engine to have given the choice of the 1.2 or the Multijet I would rather have the Multijet, but for me the Multijet doesn't make financial sense due to the low mileage I do.

Honestly I wouldn't be so sure the MJ is the better engine. It's got a very narrow power band and is sluggish if you aren't in it. It's horribly laggy and is IMO too small for a turdbo dismal. I owned one for 9 months, absolutely hated it and put me off dismals for life. I've driven a 1.2 and that's nicer to drive, though obviously I have the 1.4 which is quicker than the MJ anyway. :p

na the multijet is great

much better on the motorway than the 1.2 and still only a group 2 insurance car

also many insurance companies will want more money for an LPG car as non standard in the UK

compared to a 100 hp is not fair, as 100 hp is much more expensive to run

Spare wheel well (y)

So you're faced with either the spare wheel in the boot space, or a can of goo and a compressor whisc would also be in the boot space or in a box under the front seats.

Either way you'd be OK for a shopping trip but for anything else you're making life difficult for yourself. OK fif you're single or a couple, but any trips that involve three people on a weekend/week away and you're struggling with space. No-one buys a Panda for the luggage space admittedly but we do find it a bit cramped - two roller cases and the boots full, so the rear seat takes the extra bags.

Or just leave tyre at home and have tin of that goo stuff. Poll data shows that the average driver gets a puncture once every 10years. A lot of modern cars come without spare tyres now. If worst happens I just call a mate or recovery out.

And for safety reasons you shouldn't carry any loose objects on the rear seats ideally.

I just discovered (thanks to forums) that the Corsa C, you need to take off the front bumper in order change the light bulb(n)
I will write the Corsa off now ;)

What about the Panda, is it a 30 seconds job or is it complicated procedure?

Also, one of the 2 Pandas has electric windows. Are they brake/jam prone?

Just before Christmas in Bradwell. One of Yarmouth's finest policemen decided to go into the side of it on a roundabout. Funnily enough we got a call from the police a few days ago saying they won't be taking things any further and the blame lies 50/50.

On one hand we want to fight the bas***ds so they admit 100% responsibility but I don't fancy the idea of taking on the police.

The accident itself wasn't that bad, one side quite dented but possibly repairable as the car was only 4 years old with 17k on the clock. After the crash the copper told my wife to sit inside the car with the heater on until the ambulance arrived - good advice you might think? (y)
She started to complain of back & neck ache so the firebrigade cut the roof off the car to get her out. Turned out to be whiplash.

Oh, missed this reply. What a waist (n) But then again, neck issues come first (y)

She should have got out and sat in police car :ROFLMAO:
