It was noisy when I bought it at 40500 - no play though. Ive just changed it at 43000. The car struck a kerb at speed some time ago which is probably why the drivers side went first.
Just to revive this. I think one of the front wheel bearings on my climbing has had it.
Prop is currently removed, so not that.
Anything from 25mph+ and the noise gets louder and louder.
No movement in any of the front wheels when jacked in the air, and seems smooth when rotating the wheel by hand. Could it still be the wheel bearing
When coming off a roundabout (so turning left) and the body rolls to the right, the noise disappears. Doesn't do this when going around a roundabout and the weight rolls to the left.
As I typed in the other thread: My rearwheels had no movement at all and didn't sound funny. But after changing the bearings it's nice and quiet again.
Must be the same for the fronts.
