I have an overheating problem. It could be because the radiator fan spins very slowly and weakly. Any ideas how to proceed to fix this? My first thought is to fit a new fan but is this the best first step? The other point is that it loses water quickly. I topped up the rad but after just a couple of short journeys of a few miles it was below minimum again.

Should I replace the fan and see how it goes? I just get the feeling there may be more to the problem than that. Any ideas or experience with this problem?

I would fix the leak first.
The fan is probably postponing disaster.

Thanks. There's water at the bottom of the radiator (outside it) after a run. I assumed it has come out through the top when it overheated but maybe there's an actual leak in the rad. I'll look into it.
