i recently have become the owner of a Siecento Sporting and was having a little tinker with it today. i noticed after it had been running on the drive for 10 mins the radiator fan kicked in, i looked to check the temp gauge and couldnt find one. later my brother seemed to think that overheating is a common problem with the seicento. just thought if anyone else had heard of this and if it is a problem what can i do to make sure the car doesnt go bang!

The fan coming on after 10 minutes running at a standstill is normal.

There is a temperature warning light. You can fit an aftermarket guage. Best bet is an electronic one and tap the thermostat housing for the sensor.

Properly maintained they don't overheat any more than anything else. Usual issues are the fan not coming on and problems around not running 50/50 antifreeze (and consequent head corrosion). Important, though, to deal with overheating straight away or the head gasket will go.

wow , im so glad you asked that question. i bought sei sporting yesterday :)and noticed that the fan comes on and goes off and comes on , questioned it to the guy selling it ( garage ) he said it was normal .it was at a standstill with engine ticking over. they put it thru mot yesterday passed straight away, its got fsh and red and blue key . hope ive bagged a bargain . not picking it up til tomorrow as had no tax and knnowing my luck id get done !!! good luck with your sei and have fun
