I've got a 900 cinq and i've never had overheating trouble.

This morning went out and started the car to clear the ice while i did the last couple of jobs. When i hopped in it was sitting at about 90 on the thermometer. Thought that was odd considering it doesn't do that and it was so bloody cold. it wasn't until i started driving i noticed the air being blown into the air was still ice cold yet the system was suposed to be really hot. then over the nex mile it shot up before i lost my nerve and turned it off at 110.

checked the water bottle and the water was hot!! but the fans hadn't kicked in which they've always done on the little beast.

I'm guessing its an air block somewhere, whats the best way to bleed the cinqs system?

also if it isn't that where should i look next?

Frozen block! i asked the missus what she'd been putting into the water bottle, funnily enough i got the response 'WATER!!!!' and not the prepared stuff i'd put in the garage for her.

cheers for the help. also the thermostat could do with replacing. £10 from Halfords, its nice to have a trade card starting to save me a small fortune.

Bleeding points are behind the drivers side h/lamp(assuming rhd) and on the bulkhead beside the matrix.

899s don't pump much water at slow idle, so the top of the engine can be hot while the bottom stays cold.

Cheers

Hmm... halford don't do thermostat for a cinq 899, and if they need to order it in, you don't get a trade discount :).

Just to let u know.

£10 sound about right for the thermostat :D.

And ain't u suppose to be racing the wee 899 against ur pal ?

They are ordering it in for 12pm tomorrow but you do get a trade discount. They price match on parts. they had 3 thermostats listed one at £15, £20 and £60!!!! they all dropped about 1/4 of the price which wasn't huge.

however I rang a local parts place and they could do it for £10 so they price matched for me.

I've had quite a bit of price matched kit out of them over recent months. Brake pads end up being really cheap which is quite nice! Although it wasn't with the trade card i got a discount on 13 baby seats for our work vehicles they did better than price matching on that. I always ask for a discount regardless if there is one with the card or not. they always drop soemthing off.

does anyone know why there would be such a difference in price? i cant see why one can cost £15 and one cost £60.
