got it mot'd today and it past with flying colours, not even an advisory. The emissions were low too so thats all in good order
Think i might treat it to a service soon
if its the 1.8 zetec engine they are always low on their admissions, the only reason they have a cat is because the law requires it not because they actually need it.
they actually have to be pretty worn or rough before they fail on emissions. its everything else on the car they usually need work lol
i thought the law required ALL cars after a certain year to be fitted with a cat for that reason? Some cars fail on it due to the cat being old, spark plugs, oil etc, injectors etc
there is a long political story about why cats became law, mostly down to the need to eliminate lead from fuel and refineries wanting to cut costs by selling cheaper less refined fuels.
however not all cars need a cat to pass on the UK emision tests however they still need to have one by uk/european law
