as above, i`ve got music on my hard drive with this extension, but i cant play it windows media, any ideas where its from,
is for the ipods?

Good way to tell is create a new text document, rename it with a *.m4a extension...it should show you the icon of the program that will play it (in this case winamp), otherwise you can search the net to find a compatible program... ;)

is winamp a music player?
can it be dowloaded to convert the .m4a files to mp3?

Pete

I think its only a music player m8...

But you are right its Apple iPod music format...

i can convert it for you if you like if you can host it somewhere...

m4a is a mp4 format modified by Apple for use with quicktime/ipods and usually referred to as aac.

I like Winamp and it's easy to get a plugin to play them. Search www.winamp.com for an aac decoder or look at www.audiocoding.com and the aac section
