Hi.

Recently bought a little sub and amp from a mate, it's just a small one to help it bomp a bit...not into ridiculously loud music, but I envied the boyracers lol.

Me and my brother put it in my Bravo today and put it on...all it did was continuously thump the bass...like b b b b b b b b b b b b, get me? lol
Then we put it in my mates Golf, and it worked completely perfect!
We both have Kenwood cd players and we hooked it up exactly the same.

Any ideas what is at fault?

think i no what you mean, pretty sure it has sumthing to do with the rca leads, did you use the same cables in your mates car aswell ?

Yep, we even put the cables either side of the car so there was no interference, as he hasn't got a sub in his car. :(

I'm thinking it must be down to the headunit somehow, in which case, Halfords can have it back.

I'd seriously doubt if the head unit was to blame.

When you tried it in the Golf, did you use the same amp?

If the bass output from the other speakers in your car is low, this creates a "gap" in the bass and would give rise to the "thump" effect you're talking about.

I'd recommend turning off the low-pass filter on the amp and using a pair of 8.2 mH chokes instead.

did you earth it the same. the golf might have had a betta earth. and batteries might have somethink to do with it. but if you dont like the bass why not turn the bass down on the amp.

life is to short to look back

the rca down one side battery down other isnt actually true.

your problem is your earthing, take off there it is earthed to scrub the bolt and scrub the place it connects to to they are shiney so it is a crisp connection.
