Ever since changing our broadband providers last week there a couple of websites that no machine in our office seems capable of loading. What's going on with that??
Its the Fiatforum https://www.fiatforum.com and the VW Caddy forum http://www.vwcaddy.com

I'm sure they're still online! But my machine says they're not found, despite other sites loading fine.

What's going on? Any ideas?

Is that a bad thing? :) lmao.
Sorry. Possibly a block on php forums?

Sounds weird. Can you ping the sites?

If you can, then you know it's not a DNS issue.

Sorry to be dumb, but how do I ping sites?

TBH the fiatforum I'm not bothered about, I used to have it in my mulitple homepage setup but removed it cos I never ever looked at it, but I've got a new PM and I can't read it without visiting the site!
The VW Caddy forum I'm more fussed about!

I've just found hout how to and tried pinging fiatforum.com. It times out. I'd best go phone my BB providers methinks

Sounds like your ISP is having DNS issues.

Try pinging 70.85.47.12

(Start > Run > cmd > ping 70.85.47.12)

re

if its a network, do you use DHCP or set your own IP addresses round the network, do you also put in your own DNS Servers? if you get a reply from what ian said then its definately DNS i would have thought. but i woudlnt have thought you'd browse anything

pinging that timed out too.

We do set our own IPs round the office.

If pinging timed out, then there's some sort of block to that IP address. That IP works fine here (although I do lose a few packets) I'd say 50% of them get through.

Speak to your ISP.

Edit: I just tried pinging that IP as well and I can't get a response.

Check your Forwarders on your Local DNS W2003/W2k Server (They should be set as your ISP's dual DNS servers)

I've just spoken to them and have been told what the DNS servers should be. Problem is, I can't find the settings for them on my crappy BT Voyager modem!

Navigate to network connections.
Right click the connection you need to alter and then properties.
Select Internet Protocal (TCP/IP)
Click Properties.
DNS Server addressses should be input at bottom :)

Yeah I've done that, and also stunbled accross a link on the web for how to set that in my router too. Still wont load those sites! Very odd. I guess it's it shows I shouldn't be looking at forums when I'm at work! (At least I still have BOO!)
