for those of you that are considering buying 'HID look' bulbs, they are just normal halogen bulbs put in a different packet, sometimes with a layer of white or blue coating on the glass whihc makes no difference.
when fitting the lights people often claim that they look much better than the old bulbs, thats probably because the old bulbs were old, not because the new ones are so much better.
if you try comparing a new halogen bulb to a 'hid look' one you cant tell the difference. i had one 'hid look' bulb on the driver's side and a standard halogen bulb on the passenger side when i first fitted my polyelliptical headlights. i couldnt tell the difference so i showed a few people, and majority of them agreed that the standard 55w halogen bulb looked brighter and whiter than the 100w 'hid look' bulb. i didnt tell them which was which.
while i'm on the subject, almost all 100w headlight bulbs are only 55w or 60w, but in china and japan it is common to put 100w markings on them because they sell better, especially on ebay.
